The elementary school in our neighborhood has been getting a playground remodel. New equipment, new surfaces, and even overhead sun protection. Today we heard the team installing squeaks on the swings.

Incredibly thorough work. 😀👍🏽
Over 30 min to de-ice the plane but everyone is quiet… chill, actually. At 50 minutes on the tarmac the babies are getting vocal.

What’s a memory you have of childhood play?

During the summers of decades past, we had “My Way Day.” The first kid to proclaim ownership ran the show: freeze tag, hide-n-seek, Red Rover, tree climbing, bike riding, etc.
Dibbing out MWD for future days wasn’t allowed.

A lesson from history...
381 days. That’s how long the Black community in Montgomery walked, carpooled, and biked to dismantle bus segregation. It wasn't just a moment—it was one of the most organized acts of nonviolent resistance in history. And, one of the longest. (cont)

I like music from the ‘30’s and 40’s. This morning I REALLY listened to the words in “I Wish I Were in Love Again”. Yikes!
Plate-throwing, biting, and fighting are not healthy behaviors. This one belongs with “Baby, it’s Cold Outside” 😧🤣

If you don’t know what to say while living through the horrors, it’s okay. Boost the voices of your colleagues and peers that do.

You can use your platform, even if words are failing you.

Art in the park. I snapped this photo from far away because artists need their space. 😎

There’s someone set up in the park with four easels and four little girls and they’re painting.

Recent rains have flooded the grassy field at the grammar school. The geese and ducks worked the day shift. Now, a chorus of frogs serenades us.

It’s been an interesting start to 2026. After a yummy home-cooked brunch we discovered a small pool under the sink😧. Guess we shoulda lit those firecrackers in the house to scare off the evil spirits. Oh well… next year for sure. 😂

NYE cupcakes: outside, a sunny sunflower decorates each treat. Inside: banana, chocolate chips and walnuts.

A very young man asked me if I had plans for New Year’s Eve. I told him that when I was 19 I’d slept on the sidewalk on Colorado Blvd to get a good spot for the Rose Parade, and while it was fun, I no longer sleep on concrete for NYE.
Please quote this with stories of your minor interactions with non-celebrities, e.g. “I once accidentally bumped into a man in the Wellingborough branch of Holland & Barrett”

A few months after I’d pranked My Sweetie with the Iocaine Powder spice jar, I announced: Our relationship has reached the point where we can watch “What’s Up, Doc?”
He’d never seen it.

We’re still laughing together.

My big brother doesn’t do emails.
In my Christmas card to him I jokingly teased that the recent king tides woulda messed with his surfing (he’s not a surfer). Then I left the card out for my daughter to sign. She made the whole thing pop.

My daughter and I are working on a webtoon project. Her idea and drawings, my dialogue, shared plot line. We’re in Act Two territory and tonight, with a huge smile she said, “I’ll always have this incredible thing we did together, forever. Just me and my mom.”
Giving thanks for this amazing human.
