$800 mil from Johns Hopkins. I think many don’t realize how much of the world we live in, the better as well as the worse, is a product of higher ed, now under attack.
Our top health official thinks castor oil cures measles, while his bosses cut funds to much of the most important medical research in the world.

The toll in disease and death is beyond our ability to imagine.

And the goddamned eggs still cost $9 a dozen.

There's been so much publicity about the now-Oscar-winning doc No Other Land being unable to find a U.S. distributor (which is appalling) that some people may not realize it's currently on 100 screens here. In Manhattan you can see it at Film Forum; in Brooklyn it's at Alamo Drafthouse.

I cannot stress enough that rights being taken away from LGBTQ+ people and "migrants" (the Romani) were some of the earliest steps along the hellish path to the Holocaust.

Alright, someone orient me. Where do I find the good stuff on here? By which I mean stuff that is one or more of the following: smart; antifascist; funny; about animals; includes photos of plants; worth my time.
