Until Trump... The checks and balances built into the Constitution have been completely compromised by the Republicans. If the Democrats don't take back Congress with a supermajority next year, we may never recover from the damage the Republicans have done to our constitutional republic.
The United States has the longest continuously functioning written constitution in the world.
Is it? American style democracy has failed everywhere outside America. Parliamentary democracy -- with all its myriad of problems -- has proven much more robust.
