i'm glad someone is calling out how much of a scam "passkeys" are. honestly, part of it is bad overcomplicated design, but the other part is that it's sort of federated to hell in a lowest common denominator way that's ripe for abuse for vendor lock-in.

Passkey technology is elegant, but it’s most definitely not usable security
Just in time for holiday tech-support sessions, here’s what to know about passkeys.

Putting the asshats in timeout for now. There is intelligent conversation and witty banter to be had on this subject, this list is for the inane drivel, whataboutism, double standards, and pearl clutching when the house is already on fire. The game has changed, so we adapt.

My cat Larry and I are re-training and entering the world of Cybersecurity.

Larry is a piece of work. But sometimes he learns something helpful.

Here's how he remembers the difference between the Cloud Services:

New: the company behind Pokemon Go has announced it is using data collected by its millions of players to build an AI model that can navigate the real world, and could be used for robots. Doubt Pokemon Go players anticipated contributing data to this project www.404media.co/pokemon-go-p...

remember, if the democrats wanted to win (or cared), they would have run on a platform of legalizing weed. the cynic in me says they think they benefit more from the ill effects of keeping it illegal.

to use the uk as a proxy, i find it odd the tories can steal so much money out to the rich as "tax cuts" it destabilised the economy, get kicked out over it, and then complain that labour is raising taxes to make up for the "black hole" shortfall that the tories' hid through fraudulent accounting.

in this brave new world of wasm/asm.js alikes targeting bourne shell like pnut, it is really becoming a glaring flaw that bourne shell (and by extension posix shell spec) don't support seekable fds. in other news, i think i'll dust off my ksh /dev/self/mem stack clobberer and write a blog post.

after trump fires everyone employed as part of the executive branch who doesn't swear loyalty to him, even if democrats win & he allows the transfer of power, he can still just fire/cut/misdirect the secret service details of his opponents leaving them unprotected from right wing domestic terrorists

wow that is bad advice. like compilation doesn't magically fix any of that and adds many more risks. also, any time you see someone say some variant of 'we only run trusted and verified binaries', it means they're doing it wrong. #yikes

it feels like the risk of rogue munmaps would have been better dealt w/ via authentication tags or something that the kernel would verify before doing the operation. instead, mseal is going to cause bad memory leaks. *shrugs*
