Israel killed this woman’s daughter in Gaza and she still has family in Palestine.

She’s been with demonstrators following Mark Carney around Montreal today.

But she was arrested.

Apparently, she was too loud while trying to get Mark Carney to care about her family.

Here’s what she told me:

After Israel slaughtered several Al Jazeera journalists, I asked the foreign affairs minister's office whether Canada intends to take action.

Their response made me, as a journalist, feel sick.

They pointed me to a tweet repost. One with a grammatical error.

It didn't even name Israel:

Mark Carney's government announced they were ready to discuss Canada coming under the "protection" of Trump's golden dome.
This is a repudiation of decades of Canadian policy on the independence of our air space.
And Pete Hegseth is the guy we would be negotiating with.
These people are not allies.

A Canadian company, GardaWorld, is staffing Trump's "Alligator Alcatraz" -- and Carney's government awarded it MILLIONS in contracts.

They also told me they won't rule out working with the company in the future.

Here's what I dug up in my first-ever column for @thetyee.ca:

Oh my god why does he SUCK so BAD
Mark Carney was asked whether the US strikes on Iran were a violation of international law. In response, he ignored the substance of the question and listed off a bunch of grievances the West has with Iran.

It’s a shameful and cowardly response from someone who claims to defend international law.

Carney Just REFUSED to say whether US strikes on Iran violate international law.

But made SURE to blame Iran for being attacked: “these are violations of international law, these are the ones we look to.”

The NDP condemn Trump’s bombing in Iran & call for immediate de-escalation & a return to diplomatic talks. There is no military solution to this crisis.

Millions - including Canadians in the region - will pay the price for the actions of these warmongers.

This bill is Harper-style authoritarian.

This is the Carney government. Clearly camped on the right wing.

Inviting Modi to G7 undermines justice for Canadian Sikhs. India’s campaign of intimidation, linked to Nijjar’s killing, demands accountability—not a red carpet. Canada must uphold the rule of law. We must always stand up for justice, human rights and safety of our communities. 3/

The PBO examined the Liberals' fiscal commitments - and he’s warning the numbers don’t add up. He says there’s no way they can meet their targets without “severe cuts to the public service.” That means fewer frontline services for Canadians at a time when they need them most.

Carney’s new bill won’t build a stronger Canada—but it will target migrants and create unchecked security powers, following Trump’s example.
