The punitive-minded are holding us back from who we could be. We should be interested in who we will be as ancestors. That what we do paves the way for those who come after, whether we have children or not. I feel like that's a wonderful impetus to leave the world a little better than we found it.

Agreed. History is full of things white people should own, because we benefit on the systems built. We didn't do these acts personally (most of us). We don't have to feel RESPONSIBLE for the past. We SHOULD feel responsible to do something to change the system NOW.

I like the way you're thinking about this. I always run on a system of rules, but my rules are fluid depending on what I need to achieve. It's more about energy, perspective, and intent than it is about a specific, linear equation. And isn't that a rule in and of itself?

I tried reading Cold Snap by Lindy Ryan last year. I couldn't finish it, but it was because of my own mental health (I couldn't handle them talking at length about the sudden death of a partner) and not because I wasn't enjoying it.

I really need to read my copy. I've been BUYING books this year, but I'm having the damndest time reading them. That said, this book was hands-down, one of the top 10 most creative concepts I've seen this year, and I really want to get to it soon. Thanks for the reminder!

When I was little, I used to swallow my gum all the time. So my mom told me that the gum would get stuck and clog up the butthole, thus keeping any poop from coming out.

I say this like I haven't read like... less than 15 books this year. I've had the worst mental health in 2025. It's terrible.
