Quick downhill bomb tonight against the Shimmy Squad in Wheel World. I almost crashed getting the letter A near the beginning of the race. I used my boost more in this race and the boost rings were so fun to use. I can’t get over how fun this game is.

Current rig in #wheelworld . The Drift Boost perk is such a huge help.

Wheel World makes me so happy when I play it. Every time that I think I can’t get good enough to complete a race, I practice and eventually the route becomes a breeze. Having 3 gears to shift has helped so much with gaining speed. I feel so free when playing, and the physics are so satisfying.

It would be really cool if a game included QA early in the credits rather than buried at the end or under Special Thanks. Going out of your way to prop up the quality team is a huge sign of respect for what’s classically considered the “little guys” and would earn my sincere support and gratitude.

I can’t keep up with all the stupid shit happening in the games industry because of the even worse shit happening in the world and my city so I’m just overwhelmed and zone out through my day at work. 😶‍🌫️

Midway Games/NetherRealm composer Dan Forden retired yesterday after 37 years in the industry. I worked with him for 10 years and am happy to have discussed audio bugs and WWise with him after playing games as a kid that he composed. These soundtracks that he signed for me before I left NetherRealm.

Given the roles that are being laid off that I saw in LinkedIn, they really are going back to the drawing board with this one. Please let this amount to something.

Discord may have taken a while to develop the SDK for this, but this is exactly how they should be marketing themselves. All gamer friends I know use Discord. Imagine being in your favorite online game and seeing your Discord group/friends lists as options.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Leslie knew MindsEye wasn’t going to be up to par, and tried to blame it on whoever he imagined and made up as a poor attempt at damage control before shit hit the fan.

Better late than never. For Random Game Saturday, here is my copy of GunForce for SNES . My brother and I used to speed run this game over and over when we were kids. It’s still a fun shooter but it over really quickly.

Animal Well is such a beautiful game with so many layers to it that I haven’t figured out yet. I’m happy to have worked with Billy a few times at a couple of different companies. I doubt he remembers me. 😅

This Mr. Freeze scene had me so close to crying when I was a kid. It had no right to be so deep for a Batman episode.

Game pick ups today. These 2 N64 games put me at 191 of the 296 North American Nintendo 64 set. Spider-Man was never good but I enjoyed it as a kid and can still complete it quickly. Hexen N64 is underrated in my opinion.

I’m pretty disappointed in the reporting by Game Developer. Instead of asking Nintendo, who’s been shipping consoles for decades, why the packaging is the way it is, they should be asking GameStop why they’re STAPLING receipts to merchandise.

About six months ago give or take, Ubisoft had shut down their San Francisco office also. Earlier last year, Humble Games laid off their whole SF staff. I’m positive there’s more I’m not thinking of. San Francisco’s game dev community just can’t catch a break.

I took this picture in GTA IV last week after I survived a 5 star police chase, and escaped in this humvee. Back in 2008, we could laugh at this. Nowadays, I feel we’re closer to this being a reality than we think. 😕
