Quick downhill bomb tonight against the Shimmy Squad in Wheel World. I almost crashed getting the letter A near the beginning of the race. I used my boost more in this race and the boost rings were so fun to use. I can’t get over how fun this game is.

Wheel World makes me so happy when I play it. Every time that I think I can’t get good enough to complete a race, I practice and eventually the route becomes a breeze. Having 3 gears to shift has helped so much with gaining speed. I feel so free when playing, and the physics are so satisfying.

Midway Games/NetherRealm composer Dan Forden retired yesterday after 37 years in the industry. I worked with him for 10 years and am happy to have discussed audio bugs and WWise with him after playing games as a kid that he composed. These soundtracks that he signed for me before I left NetherRealm.

Better late than never. For Random Game Saturday, here is my copy of GunForce for SNES . My brother and I used to speed run this game over and over when we were kids. It’s still a fun shooter but it over really quickly.

Animal Well is such a beautiful game with so many layers to it that I haven’t figured out yet. I’m happy to have worked with Billy a few times at a couple of different companies. I doubt he remembers me. 😅

Game pick ups today. These 2 N64 games put me at 191 of the 296 North American Nintendo 64 set. Spider-Man was never good but I enjoyed it as a kid and can still complete it quickly. Hexen N64 is underrated in my opinion.

I took this picture in GTA IV last week after I survived a 5 star police chase, and escaped in this humvee. Back in 2008, we could laugh at this. Nowadays, I feel we’re closer to this being a reality than we think. 😕

Being able to play GTA 4 at 120 FPS is so incredible to me. The backwards compatibility with 360 and Xbox on Series X consoles will always be a leg up on PlayStation consoles. It’s not a console war thing. It’s a design and capability factor.

N64 and Pokemon VHS set. I got these years ago from an old coworker. I’m pretty sure each of these came with an issue of Nintendo Power magazine. The Pokémon tape came with the little station list insert.

I continue my Nintendo DS Lite screen appreciation tonight with a Game Boy Advance game, Street Fighter 2 Turbo Revival. Capcom did a fantastic job redrawing the art and making it look crisp on a GBA screen, but I felt it looked even sharper on a DS Lite screen.

Props to those game designers who were like “I have an idea where you play the game with the Nintendo DS held sideways” and studio leadership was like “Yep let’s go with it”. Such as Activision’s Quantum of Solace here. I also appreciate asking the player if they’re left or right handed.

Batman: The Video Game for Game Boy had no right being as difficult as it was. And Batman has a gun? Whatever. I’m just glad I finished it.

I was digging out some boxes that I never unpacked when I moved into my house, and I forgot I had these. I bought these 4 games, together in 1 purchase on eBay back in 2021, maybe end of 2020. It cost less than Mega Man X alone. Great buy!
