Working for an MP. Manchester ➡️ Glasgow
Threw up on a train today - just outside the toilets, told the guy coming out that I'd been sick and could he get me some help. He walked away and *sat back in his seat*. I'm honestly doing mental gymnastics trying to work out if there was a justifiable reason for that because wow

Incredibly sobering post but do bear this section in mind when you hear Chris Philp and Robert Jenrick getting on their high horse...

Unclear to me what some of Labour’s critics on here *want*. If you oppose further tax rises, you support the status quo OR further cuts. It’s just that simple.
Labour below the Lib Dems and Greens, here we come...
A difficult call, but I would be inclined to raise basic rate by 2p or even 3p not 1p if it meant I could avoid freezing thresholds all the way to the election:

I’m petrified about today’s science news. Genetically modifying crabs to have cheetah genes? This could go sideways fast.

I'm on a FB group for support with mental illness and I did read a slightly alarming conversation with a number of people admitting to using ChatGPT to cope when feeling down and basically as therapy. One person claimed ChatGPT talked them out of a suicide attempt.

Happy 1 year to the Labour government but isn't the anniversary of the new government and election of MPs tomorrow?

Last summer was LA's hottest ever. this "rainy" season, southern california got just 2% of its normal rainfall. These devastating fires aren’t random—they’re fueled by a warming, drying atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels. This is a climate emergency.

Fascinating interview with the journalist Andrew Norfolk who first exposed grooming gangs more than a decade ago.

He hits out at Musk and says another inquiry won’t help victims, though more work should be done to understand causes of the horrific abuse.

Andrew Norfolk, The Times journalist who first revealed the abuse in 2011, says there needs to be proper research into the issues that let criminals flourish
