BlueSky repeated one of Twitter's greatest mistakes: making hashtags louder than the message itself. That link-blue screams "look at me, I am more important!". Context becomes noise. If hashtags were a mild and quiet grey (see: tumblr), they might never have fallen out of favor.

I think the soto maps in guild wars 2 don't really work for me because they lack any incentive to do stuff outside of the meta. In auric basin you at least need keys, so there's at least some reason to stick around outside of them.
