Children's Hospital of Colorado has seen a rise in positive Flu samples, and their "Bug Watch" publication indicates an early flu season is possible.
November 6, 2025 at 1:51 AM
While Flu Levels in wastewater remain low, Flu A is being detected in 3 utilities: Boulder, South Platte, and Breckenridge.
November 6, 2025 at 1:51 AM
Wastewater continues to show that levels of viruses remain low. However, there *IS* a recent uptick in both COVID & Flu detections.

While COVID trends remain mostly decreasing (15 of 21), utilities are increasing in Southern Colorado and the Northern Front Range.

COVID, Flu & RSV in Colorado update*, 11/5/25

All viruses remain low in wastewater, positivity and hospitalizations, but all Flu indicators are rising.

COVID & Flu wastewater levels tick up, though remain low.

Measles is no longer being found in Colorado wastewater.

To sum it all up?

COVID, Flu & RSV activity remains very low across the state, but there is a chance RSV may be kicking off soon.

Measles is being detected in wastewater in two cities, Colorado Springs and Steamboat Springs, with no reported cases at this time.
October 23, 2025 at 12:37 AM
The big story this week is Measles, which is being detected at TWO utilities: Steamboat Springs and Colorado Springs Las Vegas.

No additional Measles cases have been reported in the last few days.

The last reported exposures occurring in La Veta between 10/12 & 10/15.
October 23, 2025 at 12:37 AM
The COVID Wastewater continues to look great. Almost all utilities are in "steady decrease" and the average and median remain VERY low.

The COVID median and average are now as low as they were at their lowest levels in late spring.

Flu and RSV remain practically nonexistent in wastewater samples
October 23, 2025 at 12:37 AM
The front page says that COVID Positivity has skyrocketed to 11.86%, but the Positivity graph shows it much lower. So I don't think the data showing on the front page is accurate, as the LARGE jump is also the only indicator that is climbing at all, and it's SUCH a big jump

COVID, Flu & RSV in Colorado update, 10/22/25

Hospitalizations & Wastewater for all viruses remain low, tho RSV admissions jump to highest level since June.

COVID positivity jumps (likely error)

Measles has been detected in 2 utilities (Steamboat & Co Springs Las Vegas).

To Sum it all up?

Covid Wastewater, Hospitalizations, and positivity remain low.

Flu and RSV are still rare.

Many changes to the CDPHE dashboards, the changes and additions to the Wastewater dashboard are particularly positive! (yay Measles data! Yay Fort Collins data!)
October 16, 2025 at 3:40 PM
CDPHE made several changes to the Viral Respiratory Dashboard:

- Adding an estimate of "Overall Viral Respiratory illness activity"
- Dropping the variant data visualization & hospital admissions from this front page table

No explanation of the changes has been published.
October 16, 2025 at 3:40 PM
In more exciting news, they are also now reporting wastewater detections for Measles!

As with Mpox, Copies/ml are not reported, only "no detection, detection, persistent detection". Fortunately, there are no recent detections.
October 16, 2025 at 3:40 PM
The COVID Wastewater trends continue to be mostly in steady decrease, with the median & average now lower than they have been since June.

In exciting news, CDPHE's wastewater team is now reporting wastewater data from Fort Collins!

Flu is only being detected in Highlands Ranch.
October 16, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Hospital Admissions (comparing to initial #s for last week)

Covid: 55, down from 60 last week.
Flu: 8, down from 9.
RSV: 0, down from 2.

The hospitalization counts are now available on the front page in the chart, but are no longer in the table below the viz.

COVID, Flu, & RSV in Colorado update, 10/15/25
*big update & holiday week

CDPHE updates its virus dashboard AND its wastewater dashboards.

Hospitalizations, Wastewater Trends & Wastewater Detections for all viruses remain low.

Data this week may be delayed due to the holiday.
October 16, 2025 at 3:40 PM
To sum it all up?

We remain in a bit of a lull for COVID and Flu and RSV have not yet arrived for the season.

That said, there was an uptick in Flu admissions this week, but the level remains quite low, and Flu is not appearing yet in Wastewater.
October 2, 2025 at 2:45 PM
And while it was the worst Flu year ever, it did have less COVID admissions than any previous "respiratory season", though there are still more than 2.5-3 times more admissions for viral respiratory disease than there were before the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
October 2, 2025 at 2:45 PM
It's worth pointing out that out that today marks the beginning of a new "Respiratory Virus Season".

The 24-25 season was by far the worst Flu season ever for hospitalizations, with hospital admissions for Flu topping 5,000 for the first time ever.
October 2, 2025 at 2:45 PM
The COVID wastewater trends have tipped back towards decreasing, with more utilities now "decreasing" (9) than increasing (7).

The median drops further, coming in at 11k, the lowest level since mid July.

Flu & RSV are not yet appearing in wastewater.
October 2, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Hospital Admissions (comparing to initial #s for last week)

Covid: 27, down from 36 last week*.
Flu: 11, up from 5.
RSV: 2, up from 1.

Last weeks COVID Admissions shot up, climbing from 36 to 94, a rise we typically only see in holiday weeks. Not sure why the jump occurred.
October 2, 2025 at 2:45 PM
COVID Flu & RSV in Colorado update, 10/1/25

For COVID, Hospital admissions , Positivity, & % ED Visits drop. Wastewater trends continue to ease & the median slides further.

Flu admissions rise, though other indicators are flat, as we enter the new "Flu Season".
October 2, 2025 at 2:45 PM
To sum it all up?

Hospitalizations remain elevated, but are not climbing, and other hospital data has dipped (%positive, % of ED visits)

Cases in Children appear particularly high.

Wastewater looks concerning.

Please seek a booster, and please take precautions like masking!
September 11, 2025 at 1:32 PM
I also want to highlight that this surge seems to be hitting children particularly hard:

The number of positive COVID samples at Colorado Children's Hospital is six times higher than it was in early July. (Chart from Bug Watch, a Children's Hospital Publication).
September 11, 2025 at 1:32 PM
But it's not just those areas that are high: MOST utilities are well above their Lab Phase 3 median, with several utilities in the "outlier" range on the high end (Boulder, Greeley, Highlands Ranch, Telluride, & Breck)
September 11, 2025 at 1:32 PM
The Front Range continues to look pretty bleak, with most of the utilities in Steady increase.

Boulder and Greeley are particularly high, indicating extra risk in the northern Front range.
