This is not the time to discuss it, but what appears to be the iconic image of a protester in Istanbul disguised as a whirling dervish is actually less "iconic" than one might think.

The last thing we need is the orientalist aestheticization of a genuine and multifaceted social movement.

A huge anti-Erdoğan protest tonight in Istanbul, defying a four day national ban on protests, to denounce the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.

In 2010, anti-copyright activist Aaron Swartz hanged himself after being prosecuted to the full extent of the law for making copyrighted academic publications freely available. Today, academic publishers are insisting those copyrights be lifted to feed the corporate AI slop machine.

I am lucky that nobody I work with, neither colleagues, nor students, ever made me feel bad about my struggle in German fluency. They get rewarded with my bad pronunciation and ultra low level puns in German.

This is a very good article which I'm citing in a forthcoming paper. Yes, that is why I really went into academia: to boost the numbers of old friends who were already there.
2- Another paper on the value of slacking off at work was recently published in PT. Drawing on the sociology of work and everyday resistance, I argue that shirking under the structural domination of capitalism has diagnostic, agential, and epistemic values.
