#TREC_meets_Ecotron day 1
To kick off, we are organizing a workshop with about 60 partners to brainstorm about how TREC can go for freshwater and terrestrial systems, hosted at Fontainebleau @minesparis-psl.bsky.social Campus, coupled with a tour of CEREEP - Ecotron IDF facilities.

Some news about what's going at our research station (1/15) @cnrsecologie.bsky.social @normalesup.bsky.social.
In the ERC-funded Pandora project (Nicolas Coltice, Naida Sakadjian’s PhD), we are trying to reproduce interactions between rocks & microbes when life emerged, around 4 billion years ago.

"There has been a progressive decline in fieldwork-based research and education in ecology over recent decades", precisely at a time when we most urgently need a better understanding of how natural systems work. So sad.

Extinction of experience among ecologists
Fieldwork-based research and education in ecology are under multiple threats and are progressively declining. We call for greater attention to this ongoing loss of direct field experience within the ecology community, as it could have widespread consequences for science and education, ultimately hindering efforts to address the ongoing biodiversity crisis.
