Oh, I love so many books in this thread, for all ages, but two that I haven't seen in there are 2 of my favourite picturebooks: the adorable 'Little Ghost who was a Quilt' (& I'm eyeing up the festive sequel for Bea's #BookAdvent) & the hysterical 'Poultrygeist'

Missed yesterday but had a feeling, looking through this thread, that Gabby would list some of Bea's favourites too 😆 We also love the Ghoulia books!

Today is National Poetry Day in the UK, with the theme of Play. @poetrydayuk.bsky.social had great poems with resources that I shared with teachers to use in class, but in the library I've been reading People Need People by Benjamin Zephaniah (illustrated by Nila Aye). Also a nod to #BHM! #KidLitUK

My immediate thought (I may come back to this later and have a proper thought about nature books...) #KidsBookFriday

I picked up a proof of Owl King by @bexhogan.bsky.social at the @zephyrbooks.bsky.social stand at #YLGConference & it prompted me to go back in my tbr pile to find Nettle. I'm so glad I did because it is a wonderful story (beautiful covers by Laura El). Classic faerytale elements woven beautifully.

This is the morst gorgeous book, full of wonderful ideas. Just look at these chapter titles (page 1 of 2)! Starting with failing to tidy but finding a book = me absolutely hooked. I read it in 1 sitting & then gave it a hug 😊 #KidLitUK

Today's read was Lila Mackay is Very Misunderstood by Gill Sims...promoted as "clean teen", there is a lot of talk about first kisses & crushes & being yourself instead of "normal". @harpercollins.bsky.social sent me a copy, thanks guys!

I am poorly but thankfully not too unwell to read (as well as dozing to the audio of 'Lords & Ladies'). Started 1 I'd looked forward to but stereotypes & abelist slurs made me abandon...improved the day by picking up the small but perfect Zac a Jac, shortlisted @littlerebsprize.bsky.social #KidLitUK

I complained about this section in B&M to friends on friday, saying "let us enjoy halloween first!"...BUT I would quite happily eat mince pies all year round, and that sign doesn't actually reference Christmas, so what it tells me is that I dont have to wait til December to eat one 😀

I have a copy I can read 🥳 AND a snazzy bookmark. Thanks @letterboxlibrary.bsky.social
