You might remember me from Creative Latitude, Designers Who Blog, NO!SPEC, or Women Learn Thai. These days I’m hanging out in Devon with The Man, three Maine Coons and a crazy Staffy.

Unless noted, photos are my own.
Apparently… polytunnels need to be scrubbed four (?) times a year. I was sooooo wrong in assuming I’d get to it once a year, preferably in the Spring.

Would it have made a difference if I’d known beforehand? Possibly. But the inside only took an hour. Not too shabby.

Woot! The best ever excuse not to dust the buffet?

The cats sleep in the unheated sunroom. Now that it’s cold, we leave the cat flap open for access to the dining room (but not the rest of the house).

They are not allowed on the buffet. They know this. Disturbed dust will tell on them … right?

Sedgwick's first Christmas tree when he was four - seven years ago to the day. He's such a lovely boy. This will forever be a fav Xmas photo.

We came soooo close! Buckfast Abbey's Christmas Market was chockablock traffic in and out. No thanks. Around the roundabout and back off we went.

No rush. We'll plan better next year. But if you are interested, there's still time!

With the holidays coming up, I'm in search of a decent no-alcohol white. These two are the latest.

1) Wolf Blass ZERO Sauvignon Blanc (Australia)
2) moderato Sauvignon Blanc Colombard (France)

The winner is moderato's Sauvignon Blanc Colombard. It's far superior to Wolf Blass' bland ZERO.

It's that time of year when I struggle to source decent stocking stuffers for the man. Decent = something he'll actually use/read/whatever.

Score: UPDATED Prisoners of Geography, The Power of Geography, and The Future of Geography.

He has similar books on the subject but they are way out of date

2024 vrs 2025. My polytunnel isn't even a year old. Too weird. It's such a part of my life now. Like it's always been here.

Pots are popular here due to the cold. During winter they go inside, then come back out when there’s no more frost on the horizon.

Most of my figs are cold hardy plus ripen early. Fingers crossed, many of these will go in the ground next year. But there’s no guarantee they’ll be successful.

It’s only day two of working with a proper trainer. The change in Tansy is impressive to see. She’s stubborn, wilful… but no match for him.

The who gives a crap box arrived worse for wear but Magnus doesn’t care.

The cats have a front row seat to the man’s Zoom meeting.

He’d shut them outside but he finds three hefty Maine Coons throwing themselves against the door distracting.

Celebrating Thanksgiving isn’t a thing in our house (early on the man asked “what do Brits have to be thankful for”) but he did produce enough Vanilla Panna cotta to enjoy for the best part of a week at least.

A first for me. I’ve read about birds stomping to bring up worms … but … here you go.

Hope Cove. In November. Loving it 💗

Road trip… yay.

Devon country roads … a tight fit!

Darn squirrels. The reason for the new interest from Magpies and squirrels is the change in seed. I went from cheap and cheerful to sunflower hearts…
November 24, 2025 at 9:28 AM
Clever Magpies…

Because of the bullying from large birds and squirrels, we settled on a bird feeder for small songbirds.

But…

That’s one big Maine Coon. I couldn’t imagine having to carry it around! Mine is a little over half that size yet still a lug.

The pheasant was patiently waiting for me to wake up. Just as it should be…
November 22, 2025 at 3:10 PM
SLO mo pheasant (first time for everything).
November 22, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Me (worried she’ll tear it to shreds): Aw. You look so pretty! Such a pretty girl.

The man: Well don’t you look daft.

Sigh…

Not even a year old (meaning, I’m clueless but still learning) here’s the polytunnel with its final planting for winter.

Cauliflower (three kinds = way too much cauliflower), Rainbow Chard, Celtuce (asparagus lettuce), Purple Sprouting Broccoli and regular Broccoli.

Wish me luck…

In too much of a rush… the second photo is the castle 😁
