The Federal Court confirms Walter Sofronoff engaged in corrupt conduct. Looking forward to The Australian’s coverage of this.

The murder of Charlie Kirk was criminal, wrong, and should be condemned.

And Charlie Kirk was a horrible, hateful man who spent his life radicalizing young people to embrace their worst demons by targeting women, people of color, immigrants, and the marginalized.

I refuse to sanitize him.

The myth of the self-funded retiree: Why we need urgent tax reform
What many wealthy Australians don’t seem to realise is that their wealth has grown with considerable taxpayer support – over $100 billion to be exact.

I believe the shift of mainstream media to digital subscription models was a mistake. People, especially those with low incomes, prefer options. This change has led many to only read headlines, resulting in a lack of information and knowledge

This Australia’s major problem too
This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office.
2) Elected officials rewrite the rules in the donors' favor.
3) Donors make a huge profit.
4) Repeat.

For the sake of democracy, we must get Big Money out of politics.

My column on the impossibility saving for a deposit that keeps getting bigger the longer you save.

Gone are the days when a ‘good job’ gets you a house – and now we have the data to prove it | Greg Jericho
Remember Joe Hockey’s claim 10 years ago? We put it to the test and guess what: even after a decade of saving, you still wouldn’t have enough for a deposit

DOGE recommends cuts to the FAA.

Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps.

Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems.

See how this works?

My column on the budget, journos asking how the govt will pay for things and Dutton and his properties

www.theguardian.com/business/gro...
It’s time we asked: what is the cost not just to the budget, but to society, when the richest are helped to get richer?
The question ‘how do we pay for it’ only seems to come up when the government spends money on things that help low and middle-income earners

The Congressional Research Service says the US can’t build Virginia SSNs at a rate needed to transfer subs to us. The UK Infrastructure & Projects Authority says delivery of #AUKUS SSN reactors is unachievable. Even the RAN agrees AUKUS is high risk; yet they stumble on regardless. $368B 🤷‍♂️ #auspol

So increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage is “socialism”?

But Amazon union busting, keeping wages low, and forcing workers onto public assistance while its founder increases his net worth by $7.9M an hour is the "free market"?

Perhaps this could be a WaPo opinion piece.

Today the Climate Change Authority has come out and said that the Coalition nuclear energy proposal is equivalent to adding ‘two Beetaloo basins’ worth of emissions into the atmosphere.

We simply can’t keep looking away from the climate crisis. It’s here and it’s accelerating.

Very key point made here. Any "shortage" is due solely to exports. We don't need more gas, we need to send less to Japan which has so much it exports our gas to other countries!

(also worth charging the companies to mine our gas and also to tax them properly)

www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...
Forget more gas supply, expert argues. Stop exporting so much
Among the many crises facing the nation in recent years, the east coast gas shortage has been among the most divisive from a political, economic and social perspective.

One of these days we're gonna have to reckon with the fact that "money that I spend which does not directly benefit me is a waste" is a popular sentiment.

I think we should state plainly that this is selfish on its face.

And stupid when you have awareness which extends beyond your nose.
