All tariffs kill jobs, but the tariffs that especially kill A LOT of jobs are tariffs on manufacturing inputs, like steel, aluminum, minerals, or oil.

Because way, way more jobs depend on the use of inputs than depend on the production of inputs.
Last time Trump levied similar steel tariffs, it led to an increase of~ 1,000 jobs in steel production -- but 75,000 *fewer* manufacturing jobs in downstream firms where steel or aluminum are an input into production.

BREAKING: President Donald Trump said he will announce 25% tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum on Monday.

And yes, if the WHCA boycotts these briefings, the White House is more than welcome to fill the seats with third-rate trash MAGA bloggers instead. And lose all their exposure among normal people in the process. Absolutely no one but a hardcore red hatter is going to tune into a briefing like that.

The public needs to be sent a message that barring a press outlet for not engaging in the administration's newspeak is not normal. And the White House itself needs to be told they won't get a free forum for their talking points among mainstream outlets if that situation continues.

This is beyond screwed up and even a hint of this idea being put into practice would result in HHS being sued into oblivion.
RFK Jr said he wants to send folks who are taking antidepressants and ADHD medications to "wellness farms" in rural America where they will be forced to labor by growing organic food to "cure their addictions."

And the lead prosecutor in the Adams case who then ALSO resigned and told Emil Bove anyone who would follow his order to drop the case would be a fool, was another conservative Republican who served as a law clerk to John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh.

Reminder: the acting U.S. Attorney who resigned rather than drop the charges against Eric Adams was a conservative Republican, Federalist Society member, hand-picked by Trump, who just a few weeks ago wrote an op-ed about how Biden was a threat to the rule of law.

This is pretty silly, even for Greg Abbott. Private schools can refuse acceptance based on disability, grades, and even religious beliefs.

Stop misrepresenting the facts, Governor. #txlege

And I'm off! This morning I begin a 4,000 mile round-trip driving from TX to Alabama then to New Mexico to take my grandson to see the Ring of Fire eclipse in the path of annularity.

Yes, I know I could see it in Texas, but weather is unpredictable & a zillion people are coming to see it in TX.

Election denial by the numbers:

23 election deniers in 17 states are currently serving as either governor, attorney general, or secretary of state.

That's roughly 1/3 of the country.

Worried about our democracy yet?
New report: One-third of states have an election denier overseeing elections
The movement to subvert American democracy is far from dead.

My birthday wish did not come true again. 10 years of wishing Ted Cruz would leave politics and the state of Texas, and he's *still* here.

Maybe next year...

Register Democrat voters and help save my 53rd birthday wish in 2024!
