I will support the anyone but Plante candidate in 2026.
Lansdowne 2.0 was just approved by Council 15-10, and it's definitely worth taking note of the geographical imbalance on the vote.

The two out-of-place "yes" votes are Marty Carr (Alta Vista) and Stéphanie Plante (Rideau-Vanier):

Thank you to everyone who wrote to me about Lansdowne 2.0. It passed by 15-10 today, which I know is not the outcome you wanted. I pledge to keep holding the city accountable and fighting for the priorities you really care about.

Today, Lansdowne 2.0 was passed with a 15 - 10 vote at Council. This is going to be an important issue in 2026, and I hope you'll stay engaged with Council in the coming months.

Well that's it. Council has passed the Lansdowne 2.0 plan by a 15 to 10 vote.

At this point Ottawa feels less like a city and more like a taxpayer-funded vending machine for comfortable private interests.

We’ve already seen so many good journalists and other critical voices across Alberta getting singled out one after the next by these long and expensive legal battles

Enough is enough

There are thousands of Canadians employed by U.S. companies, myself included, ripping up contracts makes for good t.v., but has anyone thought about the Canadian jobs that will disappear? Are Patrick Brown and his prepared to pay my salary if I lose my job?

While America was conceding Europe to the Nazis, 17 and 18 year old Canadians were keeping the Atlantic free and fighting in spitfires.
Their spirit is with us now.
Trump can insult and try to provoke but he has no clue who he is messing with.
This is #elbowsup time.

US tariffs against Canada (and others) are coming regardless of what performative appeasement tactics we take. So the rest of the world must unite. Stop buying US products entirely, when we can. And buy from each other instead. Retaliatory tariffs aren't needed if we act locally.

Hold my smoke, hold my beer, I have to take my shot.
Love the ciggie on the sweeper.

I bet they had beer at the back too.

Good times...
The Brier is currently going on, so each day of the big event I am sharing a photo from the competition's history!

Team Alberta's Fred Storey and Bernie Sparkes celebrate at the 1968 Brier in Kelowna. Alberta won that year (and again in 1969).

I can't recall how many times I've told Chris Dacey to fuck off.
”Fuck off“

NDP MP Charlie Angus had some choice words for convoy livestreamer Chris Dacey after Dacey and his gang of far-right activists followed Angus around at a pro-Ukraine protest outside the Russian Embassy in Ottawa this afternoon

Just voted in the Ontario election. My polling place is in an University residence. We have to be to buzzed in by security, there is no signage on the road or on campus directing folks to the polling place. I live in a Liberal stronghold. Is anyone else in Liberal/NDP ridings facing the same issues?

You have the floor, Wayne. Wayne? Hello? We can’t hear you.
If Wayne Gretzky actually loved Canada he would tell Donald Trump to shut his mouth.
The convicted felon/sexual predator says we don't have a right to be a nation.
Standing up to him is a no brainer for anyone who loves Canada.
It's Vimy or Vichy.
Two simple choices.
Where do you stand Wayne?

Canadians across the country are rallying behind a petition to revoke Elon Musk's citizenship.
He wasn't born in Canada. He represents profoundly anti-democratic values.
In Canada citizens can present these petitions to Canada’s parliament.
I support them.

Ottawa folks, the OPL main branch is allowing the screening of an anti trans film today, 2/15 at 1:30pm. Promoting hate contravenes the OPL code of conduct. I spoke to an OPL staffer who tried to argue intellectual freedom. Hate is not intellectual freedom.
