My home office here in Seattle, specifically the Fremont neighborhood.

As silly as it may seem, I try to add a little bit of joy, whimsy, and warmth to work and home 🦋
A&C orgs. are all having member appreciation week right now & they've been fantastic.

Thursday was a lecture at the Seattle Art Museum & Saturday was breakfast & a private tour at The Frye.

These are small things, but they have huge community impact.

It might be silly, but I love them 💚

Monday, I saw Lucius; as a "treat" for my level of KEXP Amplifier.

They were great; I loved the show. Only negative: the show was supposed to start at 12 & normally they always start on time, but this one was an hour late. My guest had to leave before the first song. Not upset but a little sad...

A friend & I saw Patti Smith Sunday night as part of the Seattle Arts & Lecturers series.

She was funny, low key, & profound about childhood: "we played outside for 14 hours a day in the summer!"

Then the night ended with her, & the audience singing a Chrissie Hynde song. It was a great night!

When I was making the bed yesterday, I had to move Aloysius while I was folding the blanket. I'm convinced this is what he was thinking...

Happy #caterday from Aloysius and Bjorn 😸

I just put this on the bedside table and will reread it this evening.

Even though I no longer live in Chicago ~ I still feel so much pride towards it and it's my 2nd favorite city in the US.

My 80yo mom lives in The Villages & yesterday we canceled her plane ticket to Seattle for T-Day b/c she's worried about the shutdown affecting air travel.

She will be w/ friends, but she (& her friends) are PISSED OFF about how this is hurting families, esp. during the holidays. This matters...

While this wouldn't exactly be my list (though there is some overlap), I need to keep reminding myself of this in general...
When the world feels grim, I remind myself that I’ve lived through the time of Alan Bennett, David Attenborough, Carl Sagan, Oliver Postgate, ABBA, the Goodies, Kate Bush, I Claudius, Doctor Who, David Bowie and sun-dried tomatoes, and I think good god, we’re the luckiest generation in history.

I bought one of these bottles tonight 🍷

Mostly, I did it for the food bank donation, but I also need wine for Thanksgiving dinner. This will be a good conversation piece 🙂

I'm a day late posting this one, but I don't know if I'll have a chance again soon...

This is me with friends from Vancouver (& ex-bf) at Mariners v Blue Jays games here in Seattle in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

I'm not a huge sports fan, but felt both teams deserved to win after the year they've had ⚾️

I assume having them on my lap in such a ridiculous heap of fur and belly, is their way of telling me it was worth it not getting that extra hour of sleep when it interfered with their breakfast time...

I'm really looking forward to this event this Sunday. Ten miles, on mostly flat surfaces, through cool neighborhoods - although people can come in & out of the route if that's too much.

Might be a touch of rain this weekend, but both Sat. & Sun. are shaping up to be good days for "community." 🙂
Who wants to go on a walking adventure with social housing besties? Weather is looking pretty good for Sunday - join us for the 10 mile Fall Frolic! Sign up for the group chat: tinyurl.com/fallfrolicHON

1) breakfast: ✅️
2) faces washed: ✅️
3) a rousing game of chase: ✅️
4) flopping down on mom's feet for a nap and blocking her from being able to get up and get a cup of coffee: ✅️

A productive morning from Aloysius and Bjorn! 😸

Now that football season has started for the fall - this seemed an appropriate meme for today's Happy #caturday wishes...

Since life is feeling a little "Shakespearian and tragic" at the moment, I thought of this meme I had saved years ago...

Last night, I went to see my friend's band: Death by Overkill, play a great show at #BabaYaga here in #Seattle

They were one of 4 bands - all of whom were really good, and for a Thursday night - the crowd mostly stayed to the end and seemed to be having a fantastic time 🎶🎵

I saw this in previews 2 weeks ago and can attest that it is delightful!

I've reposted @luciehfrost.bsky.social short videos before, and I have no idea if my nudges ever caused anyone to follow her - but I do find them to be interesting and informative.

And often, kinda funny, but I'm a knowledge nerd 😊 FWIW...

Last night, a friend and I went to see (e) XTC at The Triple Door here in #Seattle.

It was a fun show, and while honestly, I'm not super familiar with their hit songs - the audience seemed over the moon.

I also found it super charming that the audience was almost all 50+ males. Yep! 😎

Last night, a friend and I went to see "The Play That Goes Wrong" #SeattleRep theatre, and it was a riot.

I *highly* recommend going to see this if you're looking for an immensely funny, and ridiculous farce.

I've seen many funny plays, but rarely have I laughed for 2 hours straight 🎭 #Seattle

Got to see "The Beths" this evening, as one of the thank you benefits for being an Amplifier w/ #KEXP and it was an awesome show!

@howiecohen.bsky.social another Seattle music fan, was there as well, and when we took a pic together, we were photo bombed by the band's bassist 🎶🎵

Hey ~ @shipwreckspod.bsky.social I just listened to your podcast about the Exxon Valdez accident last night. Then I read this article a moment ago, and understood what the roles were of all the people involved!

Funny how knowledge can sneak up on a person unexpectedly sometimes 😁

Last night, a friend and I went to see #SethMeyers do a stand-up show that was a fundraiser for the Woodland Park Zoo here in #Seattle

It was a beautiful night for laughter, in an awesome place, that also benefited animals. A perfect summer evening!
