A message for JD Vance and anyone else in this Administration that is pretending they care about the safety of our kids.

They don’t. All they care about is the political approval and profits of the gun industry. And they show it every day.

Trump is rooting for a shutdown. He knows he has created a huge problem because now any budget deal with Republicans isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. He’s not even pretending to follow the law.

Last night @andersoncooper asked me whether we could pass any laws making our children safer.

I gave him an honest answer. So long as Trump and congressional Republicans are in the pocket of the gun lobby, there's not a chance.

Give us a break. The only action you guys have taken is to weaken gun laws, allowing scores of criminals to get guns; shut down funding for anti-violence programs in our cities; close the Office of Gun Violence Prevention.

You've taken action - and it's gotten people killed.

The story of the human race is a story of refusing to accept violence as ordinary and normal.

But Donald Trump celebrates and uses violence - and the threat of violence - everyday. Our nation under him is bathed in violence. We are heading backwards.

We don’t need to accept this life for our kids. It’s our choice to subject children to this horror.

This is our choice. To live in a nation where our leaders teach hate, and military style guns are everywhere.

There is something deeply wrong with a country that chooses to make running for their lives part of kids’ back to school ritual.

When we finally passed a gun safety bill in 2022, mass shooting began to drop.

But it was an unacceptably small start. We must do more.

For decades, I've been fighting to make sure insurers don't discriminate against patients with mental illness and addiction. I've passed 2 different laws to make them pay these claims.

But now Trump is taking the insurers side.

I hope you watch this. It's an important story.

Trump's wealth has DOUBLED since he's become President. AND the taxpayers pick up the cost of his luxury lifestyle.

And you're paying more for everything. Not because of natural economic factors, but because he's INTENTIONALLY driving prices up for you.

More evidence that the DC police takeover has nothing to do with stopping crime. It's just about politics and suppressing dissent.

They are literally refusing to enforce gun laws - because the have to pretend the gun industry's "more guns keeps us safer" BS is true.
“Federal prosecutors in D.C. have been instructed not to seek felony charges against people who are carrying rifles or shotguns in [DC], regardless of the strength of the evidence, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro and an email reviewed by [WaPo].” www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
Pirro’s office won’t pursue gun charges over carrying rifles, shotguns
A statement from Pirro on Tuesday said D.C.’s blanket prohibition on carrying shotguns or rifles “is clearly a violation of the Supreme Court’s holdings.”

7/ But the hospitals? They're bankrupt now. The patients they serve have nowhere else to go.

Most private equity firms don't care about providing good health care. They care about making $$ and they're willing to devastate communities to turn a profit.

We shouldn’t let them.

Private equity is already coming for clinics and nursing homes.

Lawmakers at every level must act before they get their hands on every part of our health care system.
