Fantastic Four had me about ready to flip a table at the end, but overall it was a fun summer movie. I appreciated a superhero movie that wasn't so much about physical strength and being broken for a change.

My hot take on the Eden Mills AI response is that the organizers don't think they did anything wrong. But sure, keep crapping on Romance, CanLit, we're the ones who miss the point of literary writing 🫠

I know that there are a lot of people in my life who don't understand the war in Gaza. Here's a free article that gets to the point, without downplaying it. It also talks about why the word famine is being thrown in when we know it's calculated starvation.

I knew what the hockey trial verdict would be before it even began, and yet my body and mind still feel shocky.
Dear EM: I believe you.

1/2 I loved Materialists. Excellent contemporary romance. Not a romcom. It goes deep into what dating entails, it doesn't shy away from the awful, but also doesn't shy away from what love is, and what marriage isn't. I'm impressed.

Just finished watching The Bodyguard, and considering I first saw it when I was a tween, I think I need to give it a lot of credit for fueling my slide into Romancelandia 😍

Starting from scratch w social media is neat bc it's cautious void screaming since so few see these now, but also the Internet is forever. Anyway, today I said no to a freelance client who wanted me to move their project up in my schedule, but I need to treat my book like it's my job.

Did I unintentionally agree to getting emails from a publisher's marketing team about new books when I accepted a NetGalley ARC? Is this a thing with NG and I missed that in the fine print? Or did the marketing team make this decision for me...?

I regret to inform you that I'm a Leafs fan.
In related news, I picked up some local beers for Dad and I to try this evening.

It's been a week, and I wrote 2 paragraphs last night in a chapter I was ready to heave entirely, at a time when I didn't think I had the capacity to even think about my ms, so this might be working 🧐
The first day there was "eau de imposter syndrome" in the air every time I looked at it. But today the looking at my cover felt like my superpowers might be manifesting.
I've set my cover as my phone's wallpaper. Will report back as to whether this is motivating to get the draft done.

Pierre is every terrible boyfriend who lies to your face and then tells you you're crazy for calling him on it, with that smug little smile, and I can see why the Cons are not polling so well with women.

I've surpassed 100k words in this updated draft with 2 blank chapters still to go 🫠 I guess the good news is that whatever I cut has newsletter-exclusive potential.

I love this book so much that I sipped it and now it's over the book hangover is strong 🥹🥳 What a nerdtastic ride, I laughed so hard, I swooned, I laughed more, and I cheered. Utterly satisfying read, perhaps especially in this political chaos timeline.
Heartfelt congratulations to my friend Katy Summers on this, her first ever publication day 🥹💖🎉 I'm on chapter 2 I regret not booking today off to read the whole thing! Fat rep, 30+ mcs, autism rep, super British and so funny already! Excellent narration!! Katy, you did the thing SPECTACULARLY 🥰
So happy that it’s publication day for my debut novel “Love, Rebooted” - available today as an Audible Original narrated by the gorgeous Emily Atack and Stuart Martin. This book was a joy to write

So then I watched Sweet Home Alabama, of course. Some of it has not aged super well and I like that because at the time of its release it was pretty damn progressive for a romcom 🥹
I will absolutely be seeing Pedro, Evans and Dakota in the theatre, but through my fingers with emotional support popcorn because I don't trust the 3 of them enough individually let alone in a movie together to think this movie is the 2025 version of Sweet Home Alabama. Plot twist ahoy!!?? 🫣

Took a break to deal with my wisdom teeth and I'm back to void-chatting. I don't think it's really screaming every time. Anyway.
