Totally cool, working mom into storytelling and making big things happen
Such joy and spectacle today for the home opener for RIFC at Centreville Bank Stadium. The moment the sky opened up was sublime! Looking forward to the next one ⚽️

I’m processing all the bold and urgent docs I saw at Sundance while also processing the immediately terrifying news being reported by exhausted journalists doing god’s work alongside the filmmakers doing god’s work energizing us to do god’s work so others will do god’s work and so on and so forth 🤷🏻‍♀️

Alarming implications for Rhode Island - many budgets in the state are about to be thrown into chaos. Let’s remain resilient and collaborative on journey ahead.
This freeze stems from either gross incompetence or an unprecedented power grab.

Either way, it puts key federal responsibilities on the chopping block, including: public safety, education, health care & Medicaid, veterans care, infrastructure, housing, national security & more.

When my father left the priesthood in 1972 to jump headfirst into parenthood, he got a job with the Dept of Energy ensuring private contractors were EEO complaint. It was a good fit, coming from Maryknoll, steeped in liberation theology. Today, he would have been placed on leave.

For some reason I opted to finally read Station Eleven, finishing it during Trump’s first week in office, while traveling across a country buckling under weather extremes and endless sniffles.

I am done with tech’s overhyped value. It has made us profoundly miserable, degrading our daily lives and limiting community potential. Our kids are anxious and depressed and we are foolish slabs of meat, religiously productive, lost in a futurist fantasy scam.

Opinion | Nurses, Chaplains and Teachers Should Not Be Replaced With Technology
We’re increasingly becoming a society in which very wealthy people get human care, like concierge medicine and private schools with tiny class sizes.

🌊 70% of ocean microplastics come from clothing, textiles, & fishing gear, per data collected by The Ocean Race sailors and teams.

#URIGSO alum @victoriafulfer.bsky.social, Ph.D. '24, contributed to this research while at URI, using advanced methods to analyze microplastics as small as 0.03mm.

Mysteriously, Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is currently a Gen Alpha meme. My 10 year old just pulled up the music video. Had to deconstruct early aughts, post-punk aesthetics with him. The best I could come up with was, “we were very serious about who we thought we were.”

I haven’t seen Wicked yet. It’s going to happen, I promise. What I have done is watched thru episode 3 of Bad Sisters. Brilliant. And what I will do but keep low key is reactivate my Starz subscription for the new season of Outlander. And truly, I will see Wicked.

Notes from a changing world - hosted 5th graders with a doc screening this morning. A few kids noted that it was hard sitting in a dark room because it made them sleepy. Fascinating reminder that Gen Alpha and many others are not going to movie theaters anymore. Lights out = bedtime, not showtime!
