Sounds like a double-barrelled Cavanman with a speech impediment

Red Roses For Me was a helluva start, but Rum, Sodomy and The Lash blew me away. 40 years later I still play it loud.

The 10 richest people in the world should be taxed 50% of their entire wealth while they stay in the top 10. If after paying it, they’re still in the top 10, then do it again next year.

We went to the same school, I was a couple of years behind you. I agree most were fairly decent, but MY GOD the sadness, the loneliness, they REEKED of it. And if you ever had occasion to be out in the real world with them, you saw how institutionalised they were, how bizarre it all was.

Ye had three?? Lucky bastard. Two in our place.

All-boys secondary boarding school survivor here. Rules were complicated. Being good at art (drawing, painting) was ok, but anything craft-y was gay. Learning guitar was fine, piano questionable, anything else gay. Reading was dodgy, unless it was Sven Hassel or something “sexy”. I could go on.

One more: it’s pronounced ba-nahl. Heard this mistake made twice, still have a little snort years later when I think of it

I love it. “But he wasn’t MY prince…” that’s not how things fucking work, boyo. You give yourself a hereditary monarchy, you deal with the consequences. But imagine if he’d been heir, and not nth in line; do we think the *rest* of the Royal Family would have stripped the King? Like fuck

That’s the point I’m making.

You have (a) completely misunderstood my post, and (b) funnily enough, *proved my point for me*. Thanks for playing! See ya!

A sort of Sturmabteilung - what could go wrong

It’s pronounced Saoirse. Would you pronounce Juan as “Jew-an”? No, you’d find out what way it’s pronounced *in the language it’s written in*. The letters of the name are not English; they’re Irish, but there’s overlap in the alphabets used. Irish has 18 letters, English 26, Spanish 27 (and so on).

Have to confess, I would actually like to talk to one of them, to get the full backstory, the genesis. Like a late-franchise origin-story from the DC-verse. “The Burkes… in the beginning, there was darkness…” (cue ominous music)
October 29, 2025 at 7:47 PM
It probably wouldn’t even get that far. “Garda, Garda, someone shot one of the Burkes!”

If you shot them, there isn’t a jury in the country that would convict you. Now I’m not saying that’s right, I’m just making an observation.

Is it “totally reasonable and acceptable” for people to not want to live next door to people who are of a different race (like his wife)? Or religion (like his wife again, or his own family (he converted), or his in-laws)? Or of different beliefs (they’re all vegetarian)? Grow the fuck up
October 29, 2025 at 6:49 PM
They’re living out their fantasies - it’s just that THEIR fantasies are not about sex or lottery wins, they’re about being Nazis. At the first indication of an inclination that direction, they should be shunned, ridiculed, ostracised, and in most countries, they would?

And I’m not sure Michael Buble is fully charged

But NI LGov is far more powerful and devolved than in RoI, so I think that’s where the compromise might lie. A new level of regional gov, with bite and budget, replacing all CoCo’s and LAs. And who knows? There could be a LG seat for a mild Unionist outside NI. PRepr is a wonderful thing !
October 26, 2025 at 7:26 PM
In a new parliament, NI parties would end up with 25%(ish) of the seats, say 47 seats, as against what, 18 MPs? So automatically much closer representation
