A sign of an aging brain can be forgetting the name of common items. I used to remember both common & latin names of my garden plants. Now I only remember a few.

Fascinating. I last read Wuthering Heights in high school. I found it overwrought and annoying. Obviously, I need to read it again.
When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. I'm going to share a little material from a recent talk. Content note: racism 1/

My sister suffered throughout her life. Kind, funny, a reader, talented artist who truly saw animals. The past 4 years dialysis 3 times a week, in pain, at last spending all day snuggled in bed with her beloved Whippets. Last week she chose to enter hospice. Not much time left to say farewell.

Today is Remembrance Day in many countries – the red poppy is its symbol.

Maybe you didn’t know that in Ukraine,
May 8 is Remembrance Day, honoring the victims of World War II.
Ukraine also uses the red poppy, designed by Serhiy Mishakin in 2014

Rosalind Franklin's lab notes.
