A lot of people I know revisited Rogue One following the Andor finale and were kind of shocked at how clunky it feels by comparison! But I think a lot of people are just enamored with a half-remembered version of Rogue One in their minds

IT Chapter 1: Remember Mike's main trait (interest in local history)? we gave that trait to Ben. In exchange Mike gets nothing and is kind of mostly just standing around not talking
IT Chapter 2: Mike is CRAZY and tricks and manipulates the Losers to complete the ritual and it doesn't even work

And yeah, they ultimately didn't go this route, but the disdain they have for the character is still pretty clear in the movies we got!

this honestly does explain why these movies so throughly strip Mike's character of pretty much anything in Chapter 1 and straight up vilify him in chapter 2. the hit job on this character sincerely felt deliberate and racist
