The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session.

Want to know why?

Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out.

Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

The SAVE Act is a poll tax.

Over 69 million women would have to get new IDs to vote under the SAVE Act—all of which, except military IDs, cost money.

As @mcclellan.house.gov explained, whether it’s $1,000 or 1¢, no one should have to pay to vote.

This is hyperbole and does little good.

Elections are still decentralized and attempts like this are clear violations of democratic procedures that average voters understand
Trump just signed an executive order banning vote by mail and ordering the defunding of any state that does not follow through with it as well as engage in massive voter roll purges.

There won't be free and fair elections ever again. If you're waiting for 2026, it's already too late.

Y’all - They staged a fake town hall for Mike Lawlerin Peekskill since he refuses to host one. It was in a 300-person auditorium and they not only filled it but had 200 others outside who held a sister protest outside. Stunning!!!
Beth Davidson, who will run against Lawler, has real momentum!

If you are Gen X and feeling as though the country has curdled in a way you find hard to understand, I wrote an unusually personal piece considering precisely that.

Anyone else find it interesting that Canadian politicians have a better playbook for handling Trump than our own Democrats?

Another day, another bill! The John R Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, a bill that aims to protect equal access to voting, was reintroduced today.
And yes, it's different from the SAVE Act 😵‍💫

Sounds like the SAVE Act will not be brought up in the House next week. This bill will make it a lot harder for many people to register to vote (especially people who’ve legally changed their name). Here’s what you should know.

This remark from @roxanegay.bsky.social made me realize - 1/20 is the new 1/6. Insurrection of our entire government.
One thing we've learned since 1/20 with painful clarity is that our institutions are far more fragile than we could have ever imagined.

Today's ray of hope: By the early 1900s, Central CA's southern sea otters population had dwindled to about 50. Now it's around 3,000. Conservation measures work.

I was so inspired by @montereyaq.bsky.social's efforts to save sea otters that I started to write #Odder. 💙🦦

I had the pleasure of meeting Kim and Kelley Deal’s parents once, and by way of introduction, they said, “We’re the breeders of the Breeders!”
