Charlie Kaufman's new short film, How to Shoot a Ghost, is a spellbinding and poetic look at death and the power of human connection.

How to Shoot a Ghost Review - AFI Fest 2025
How to Shoot a Ghost is both outwardly engaging and internally touching.

I overall find myself disappointed with Ozon's adaptation of The Stranger. Trying to add more angles to the narrative without properly evolving the text, the results look incredible but lack follow-through.

The Stranger Review - AFI Fest 2025
The Stranger is a film pulled in two directions that never let the film find its footing and singular voice.

All That's Left of You is easily my favorite film of 2025 so far. A deeply emotional and shocking look at the generational trauma in Palestine, the film is both educational and haunting, becoming a defining film of the year.

We Believe You is a compelling courtroom drama and features one of the best performances of the year, but the film never kicks into next gear to offer something beyond its initial message.

We Believe You Review - AFI Fest 2025
While We Believe You remains an overall powerful film, and features one of the greatest performances of the year, it is clear that there was more here the film could have engaged with.

Kicking off my AFI Fest coverage, 1001 Frames genuinely blew me away. Such an inspired and unnerving film that is one of the most unnerving experiences of the year. Absolutely masterful piece of cinema!

ChaO presents itself as a Masaaki Yuasa feature, but finds a greater success in its non-stop comedy than it does in its emotional weight.

ChaO Review - Animation is Film 2025
Featuring some of the best animation of the year, ChaO is a world that is impossible not to get sucked into and have a good time with.
