I have realized you could burn yourself out if you tried to protest/help everything that is happening. Find your passion. Pick your battle. I am concentrating on intellectual freedom and making sure we have items at the library for everyone we serve.

DYK? The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) is kinda a big deal. For 65 years, the MMWR provided weekly, real-time data & analysis about disease outbreaks & emerging health threats. The MMWR's continuous stream of data-driven information -the voice of the CDC- was stopped in January 2025.

I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kids’ section. It’s all such a gift.
