I bet my cats would LOVE this for #SecretSantaAoNZ. Huck is being such a good boy supervising my work, in my little WFH office in the spare room, that he deserves a treat.

And now the singer is doing a beautiful rendition of Phil Collins’s another day in paradise about homelessness and the irony might actually kill me. Especially as I’m sitting on this lovely balcony with my gin and my sunset.
A beautiful resort with palm trees and lights over the pool, and a pergola thingy with a singer and musicians singing beautifully about homelessness and how we ignore poverty and my guilt is OFF THE CHARTS. A large matryoshka doll, of the sort designed to contain a bottle of vodka, lies in two halves on a mat on a wooden floor. Luckily it is unbroken. A ginger cat sits loaf-style at the very tippy top of an open shelving unit holding many plants in pots. It used to also hold a large matryoshka doll.

I did waterblasting today. First time. So satisfying.
A concrete pad and stepping stones with planting between them. Very grimy. You can easily tell where the eaves above them are. You can see the outline of where the doormat goes. So grimy. Ew. Same concrete pad and stepstones. Now they’re all clean. Ah, so nice and clean. And the plants are still there.

It’s #MWSecretSantaAoNZ opening day! I’ve been eyeing up my courier package for over a week and now I finally get to open it - and it’s so great! Cute wrapping paper and two fantastic novels (neither of which I already had). Thank you so much, Santa!

For the first time, my Mother’s Day breakfast was entirely made by my kids, with no help from their dad. They’re very proud. (He did make the tea - they’re too little to wrangle the kettle).
