Deaths from heart disease down 75%, that’s NIH.

Deaths from stroke down 75%, that’s NIH.

HIV/AIDS no longer a death sentence, that’s NIH.

99% of FDA approved drugs in the last decade, that’s NIH.

Please show this video to anyone who doesn’t understand why the NIH is so important.

AIDS activists are coming out of their retirement to fight again

I am grateful to them for their inspiring advocacy

But I am upset that they have to come out of retirement and do such activism again!

They did such work 30+ years ago, but, in 2025, we should be close to ending AIDS!!!

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

On days like this I remember there was time people when people applauded frontline responders of the pandemic every night. Public health workers, doctors, nurses etc.. How quickly we went from that to "public health bad, science bad, researchers bad and must be erased" is true mind blowing.

Such a dreadful plot, the purple graph is predicted HIV deaths if PEPFAR is cut. So much unnecessary death and disease. I cannot understand the cruelty and selfishness.
Proposed cuts to foreign aid could result in millions of HIV deaths and soaring rates of global HIV infections, new modelling study in The Lancet HIV estimates.

every person involved in this needs to be in prison
“One young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, ‘I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber.’ I believed him. *** He “began to whimper,” as his head was roughly shaved, “folding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.” He “asked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.”

Even if you don’t care about others should you support combating infectious disease elsewhere.

An update on HHS cuts today

#1 - all of CDC's most recent class of Epidemic Intelligence Services officers, aka agency's "disease detectives," are among cuts

#2 - Stat is reporting that NIH is working out which probationary to cut

www.statnews.com/2025/02/14/f...
The latest I've heard on cuts at HHS

- FDA officials say heard nothing about probationary cuts, so far
- lots of rumors at NIH about cuts, all from a Reddit thread I think, but nothing official yet?
- many contractors have contracts not renewed
