You remember the opening scene from "2001: A Space Odyssey"?

My new and impressive heat pump reminds me of the Alien Monolith.
Want to learn about how I picked this model and why?
How does this apply to providing financial advice?

“Let’s be honest, I think Feminism has FAILED.”

I’ve heard multiple women say this in conversations at cafés, at the university, even at weddings.😭

Much of the reasoning behind making such a hyperbolic statement is driven by a resentment that ‘WOMEN CAN’T HAVE IT ALL.’

L’histoire montre que, lorsqu’une profession devient majoritairement féminine, les salaires stagnent ou reculent, même si les responsabilités et la formation restent inchangées.

Pourquoi cela se produit-il?

We tend to see debt as a personal financial problem. Should we consider it a public policy issue?

In April 2024, I attended a conference and workshop hosted by the @Observatoire québécois des inégalités.

BUSINESSES are potentially making A BIG MISTAKE 💸🤦🏽♂️

I often speak to new business owners, and when I ask about their equipment, almost all of them will say they PURCHASED IT OUTRIGHT. This could be a MISTAKE.

🤖Here's a reason why good advisors will never be threatened by #AI or #roboadvisors 👇🏽
There's more to financial services than financial products.

If all I did was invest people's money or sold them insurance products, then I will about of the job very soon.

Too many advisors think that being financially literate is a guarantee to financial success. It’s much more complex than that.

We assume that being financially literate is some a requirement to being wealthy.

I mean, look at Donald Trump.

Par Whole Life policyholders 👇🏽

Many professionals and business owners (or both) are convinced that their Par Whole Life policy is a sure way to build wealth in any economic condition.

I'd say their insurance agent has done a great job MISREPRESENTING the product.

Every time I do #insurance for couples 👫 ...

Life insurance:
👩 Woo hoo! Suck it, men!
👨 Ugghh. I wrestle ONE bear and my insurance goes up.

Disability Insurance:
👩 DOH!
👨 I'm gonna wrestle MORE bears!

Did you read your employer-sponsored group insurance coverage CAREFULLY?

I get it. Why spend money for coverage I got from my employer?

STOP THINKING ABOUT YOUR FINANCES ON VACATION!!
(Your mental health needs a break)

My wife and I are both self-employed. So, when we departed on a 7-week family vacation in Central America we felt EVERY DOLLAR we spent. 💸

A big reason: no new money is being made.

Advisors, accountants and everyday Canadian business owners make this FALL FOR THIS MYTH ALL TOO OFTEN.

The myth is: if your corporation receives dividends from Canadian companies, it's taxed more favorably at 38%.

2️⃣Investment costs matter! 💸
Investments have a cost and when compounded over years, these fees can make a sizeable difference in the end.

This is why DIY investment platforms are so popular. FYI: there is a gap and it is NOT what you think.

1️⃣ The Fall of Roman Empire and so-called "Dark Ages" are often credited for having slowed down human scientific progression. This is both true in Europe. Not the case in the Middle East and Asia where scientific discoveries were being made during the same time.

"Retire 30% wealthier" LOL

This is one of the best marketing phrases in the finance industry of recent history.
It is BOTH telling you the truth while lying to you.

Here's why these two images are THE SAME PICTURE.

TRUTH: There is a sizeable gap. (It's not what you think)

Every physician client and prospect I have met has an unnecessary permanent life insurance policy.

They are young. They have no RRSPs. No TFSAs. No RESPs. Yet, for some reason they have a permanent life insurance policy.

Could these policies be useful. Sure.

A holding company serves to protect assets from creditors but can have some tax consequences during a business sale.

An operating company can expose you to creditors but can have a more favorable tax treatment for small businesses.
