I'm thrilled to announce the publication of my newest paper in JMCC, which investigates the mechanism of ulcerative colitis induced ventricular arrhythmias 🧪

Colitis induced ventricular alternans increases the risk for ventricular arrhythmia
Inflammatory bowel disease was linked to an increased risk for conduction defects and ventricular arrhythmia. It coincides with dysregulation of gut microbiota, increased inflammation, and deregulatio...

This book is essential reading for physical educators. It contains more comprehensive information about women athletes than was available in my entire physical education BA curriculum around 2007. @christineyu.bsky.social

Multielectrode arrays can be used to investigate electric activity (field potential duration, conduction velocity, arrhythmic substrates, etc.) in cardiac tissue and cells. Useful to investigate the effect of diseases and drugs. 🧪

Ever wondered about the heart-gut connection in inflammatory bowel disease? Our brand new paper reveals insights into atrial electrophysiology changes during active ulcerative colitis that may explain the higher risk of arrhythmias in IBD patients.

Calcium transient imaging using an @ionoptix.bsky.social setup. On the bottom of the screen we can the pretty cardiomyocyte "beating". 🧪

Calcium imaging in cardiomyocytes is a method used to measure intracellular calcium levels and assess calcium dynamics. It is a powerful tool for investigating the effects of diseases and drugs on cardiac electrophysiology and contraction, providing insights into the mechanisms of arrhythmias.

I recently attended the Netflux and Logic-Based Network Biology virtual conference organized by @jsauce7.bsky.social . Here's my first attempt at logic-based simulations. I've exported the simulation data to customize the graph further using R. Excited to explore more!

Early pathological mechanisms in a mouse model of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction | American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology | American Physiological Society
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) constitutes more than half of all HF cases, yet evidence-based therapies remain lacking due to limited understanding of its underlying pathologic...
