Perfectly put, we are not a jar of organs. We are a prime example of the saying "the whole is more than the sum of its parts". In out lab we have now data indicating not only a gut-heart axis but also a gut-brain-heart axis. We hope to publish this findings by the end of the year

Studies have shown that both IBDs increases the propensity for arrhythmia, hypertension, etc. Specially during the flare ups. But, in patients, it's difficult to know the exact cause (confounders). It's good you have been monitoring it with a doctor. Only them can provide diagnose and treatment.

Curitiba, Brazil, offers another compelling example of the benefits of going car free. In the 1970s, Mayor Jaime Lerner defied local business owners by pedestrianizing XV de Novembro street. Contrary to their fears that it would harm their businesses, the opposite occurred. Business thrived!

Honestly, it puzzles me why that stretch of Lincoln Ave isn't permanently closed to cars. It is a small gem of an area that would greatly benefit from being car free.

Very nice graph. If the data represents the US, a comparison with Brazil, which experiences summer and Carnaval in February, could be quite insightful. I'll try to find data from Brazil 🇧🇷

So happy to see my wonderful city featured on this list! It filled me with memories of its fragrant eucalyptus trees and the charming black and white cobblestone sidewalks. I really miss my beloved Curitiba

But right now I am still intrigued by the period doubling I found, and how complex "behavior" can arise even from a simple network.

Next I'll try to reproduce results from a paper published by Stephen Lipius group (don't know if you met him at loyola) where acetylcholine elicits a rebound stimulation of calcium current. That will be a little harder, I think!
