As someone who lives and works here and has two kids in the DC public schools I gotta say, it's been eye opening to see how much of the country does not understand this is a real place with real people living in it

I have no idea what's going on with the celestial bodies right now but it is definitely bipolar mania season now until mid January.

prince's vault is huge we'll be 80 and still hearing unreleased songs called "sex duck" and "port-ur-potty" or something

I woke up before my alarm this morning hoping maybe I could have sex before work. Instead I spent 20 minutes on the phone with my mother saying "yeah" "uh-huh" while she talked about a woodpecker, her aging dog, and her fall foliage long weekend. This call was billed as urgent.

TV has taught me that a crisp $100 to the right morgue attendant will get you a corpse for a couple hours, so the idea that you can buy a live human AND their labor for $8/hr is absurd. The living deserve equal pay with the dead, I say.

It should be illegal for me to have a headache today when I went to all the trouble of not getting drunk last night.

I used to refer to Jack Johnson as "children's music for adults" but in the intervening years since I first said that I've now realized how many Disney adults there are in the world. My apologies to JJ, I guess listening to songs about banana pancakes the morning after is a step up in maturity.

"I placed this order and then realized it's under my doctor's credit card and I need to switch payments please." What's the problem here, sounds like a win against the healthcare industrial complex, queen.

Would love to run into any one of my former nonprofit EDs while at work and tell them just how much more fulfilling bartending is.

Customer service is not a void to scream into, unless it's an automated health insurance system in which case scream away.

Instant noodles are commonly maligned as a poverty/survival food, but the comfort they're offering me lately is doing as much heavy lifting as my anti-depressants. Support our real heroes.

This morning my therapist asked me if I might be demisexual and honestly I just don't think I can be any more things. Dating profiles have character limits.

My "work" today is reading and taking notes on a 1970s book about "open-ended marriage" and yet I've caught myself multiple times sighing like I'm doing an actual day job and not something I completely made up.

Do you ever wish your COVID test would come back positive just so that you'd have a clear explanation for why you feel like shit?
