After finding the flock of Orange-fronted Parakeets yesterday down at lower elevation, I had to go back for the better light this morning. I think it was worth it!

Great Blue Heron with pale blue feathers on wings and body and dark blue at the top of head. Yellow eyes, dark grey beak, fluffy chest feathers and you can see some of the feathers on the front of its neck that look like braiding. Water is gray-blue. There is a loose feather hanging down from wing. Large boulders on rip rap that is covered with seaweed and barnacles. The GBH is staring intently ahead watching for any sight of food.

Generally smaller than gray wolves + a bit larger than coyotes, the Red Wolf is the world's most endangered canid. Only 16 are known to remain in the wild.

Although Red Wolves are a separate species from gray wolves, both species are essential, beautiful + worth fighting for 🐺
