Professional nerd, boring suburban mom with way too many hobbies
In case it's of interest to anyone here - I'm going to be streaming tomorrow evening! Doing more work on the Fractured SMP, probably digging a giant hole for no good reason except it makes me happy, or possibly engaging in shenanigans. We'll see where the mood takes me!

I got to the gym again! Now my arms don't work! Oops. But I got this selfie before completely collapsing 🙂

Looks like Farcebook is starting to hand out more shadowbans (and probably outright bans very soon) so I guess I'll be remembering to hang out here more often.

Hey, remember like nearly a decade ago when I used to post Sweaty Selfies? Well, guess who just finished her second workout in as many weeks... 😁

I'm not saying I'm cute today but OH WAIT YES I AM I'M FINE AS HECK. 😀

Turns out that kimchi is very definitely not my thing. 0/10 experience for me. I understand that other people love it, and I'm glad for y'all because I *wish* I could love it, but... yeah. Not my thing. Ah well.

I couldn't tell you how long it's been since I've had the energy to cook a really good meal, but hey look! I'm making myself jambalaya! 🎉

(Jambalaya-ish, anyway... It's likely not remotely authentic but it's super tasty and I can eat it so yay!)

My hair was feeling somewhat dramatic today. 🤷🏻‍♀️

When I can't move my arms tomorrow, please remind me that I did a very tiny amount of very light weightlifting today.

I kill a kid, I go to prison. My company kills a kid, it pays a fine. And if the fine is less than the profit, then my company’s job is to kill kids.

No sane society would intentionally build that, but here we are. Actively repealing child labor laws, not that we’re not already exploiting kids. 2/x

so when you…

• force this tech on most everyone

• block it from acknowledging trans people even exist

• remove lgbtq people from human rights reporting & allow ICE to conceal info on trans people in custody

…it seems like a good time for cis folks to stop considering political “compromises.”
Trump's new executive order about AI states that companies' models must not incorporate the idea that trans people exist as a concept. Seems bad.

Today's random google search, brought to you by KPop Demon Hunters and the boredom of waiting for code to compile:

"Is ramyeon the same thing as ramen?"
July 22, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Today's coding involves some regex and after looking up how to accomplish something, I added this comment to the code: "Pretty sure regex people are secretly Lovecraftian horrors."

I feel like it's both justified and appropriate.

And after only 15 or so years of being frustrated and annoyed by the plumbing around my house... The plumber has finally come and fixed all the things I've been wanting to have fixed.

I have been doing an awful lot of very adult things lately and I would like to take a break now please. 😭

I don't remember the last time I made Rice Krispie squares but it was a very long time ago... Until today! Behold, a pan of Rice Krispie squares!

I bought these on a whim a number of years ago now, and last year while I was too ill to mow the lawn my neighbour very helpfully got it for me but accidentally mowed these too so I thought they were done for... Here's what was waiting for me just outside my front door this morning!

Y'know, I think we should all give my friend a gift today! Luckily, it's also the kind of gift that I think we should give every day, at every opportunity.
Anyway, it's just four more hours until I'm officially older. Woohoo!

If you want to give me a gift, be kind to someone who needs it today. I'd really appreciate that.

Hey look, I made a couple ebony pens this morning! I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. 🙂
July 5, 2025 at 6:27 PM
My hair was feeling extra dramatic when I took it out of the post-shower bun. Enjoy. 😁

Puttering away at getting my tool chest properly organised. 😁

I'm curious: who has an opinion on the "right way" to open a cereal box? And even if it only counts as "right" for you and you wouldn't expect other people to do the same, that counts.

Let me know!
June 3, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Turns out that I'm in poor enough shape that an hour turning pens is enough to tire me right out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But yay for turning pens!

Unlike Solar Freakin' Roadways, this project looks potentially feasible and useful. Still some significant problems to solve but it'll be interesting to see where they end up in a couple years.
Switzerland turns train tracks into solar power plants
A Swiss start-up’s system to install and remove solar panels between train tracks is now being tested. The technology is attracting interest from other countries.

You'd think that 17 months in to having a YouTube channel, I'd know to record at least a brief explanation of what's going on... but nope. And recording it after the fact isn't gonna work in this case. Ah well, live and (hopefully) learn.
