I get paid to watch sports, I have an incredible wife, and dogs love me. I'm truly living the life.

Sports graphics operator, researcher, statistician, etc.

Jersey born and raised, now a Brooklynite.
Interesting time for the Hall. I could see arguments for voting for ten guys, or for zero.

As for new nominees: I wouldn't consider anyone besides Hamels this year; next year, only Buster Posey; 2028, only Pujols and Yadi.

And yes, I know that 1) Hall voting sucks and 2) nobody cares what I think.
The 2026 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot as announced moments ago by @baseballhall.org (baseballhall.org/news/2026-bb...). Results will be announced Jan. 20th. Game on!

I've been a John Shuster fan for decades- I still have an autographed ticket Team Fenson signed for me at the 2006 World Championships- but Danny Casper played absolutely out of his mind tonight. Unbelievable shots and a well-deserved title. #TeamCasper #Curling #USCurlingTrials

Worst winning percentages in the last ten calendar years among all CFL, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and WNBA teams:

1. New York Jets - .319
2. New York Giants - .336

Amazing that one stadium can host so much futility.

I could go on for AGES about this article, but in summation: @tylerparker.bsky.social packed in dozens and dozens of hilarious paragraphs that some writers could spend years trying to get right without nailing. Most people would be elated to have come up with even one of them.

Non-controversial take: "That Thing You Do!" is one of the most perfect pop songs ever written.

Controversial (but true) take: It's not my favorite song by the Wonders. #ThatThingYouDo

2024-25 average NHL attendance: 17,542
2024-25 average NBA attendance: 18,147
2024 average MLS attendance: 23,234

"But their stadiums have way more seats!" OK, you still have to convince people that it's worth buying tickets to a game.

#MLS is a first-class league in the US, plain and simple.

If @mls.bsky.social's official stats are correct, Maximiliano Falcón of @intermiamicf.bsky.social became the 15th player in MLS history to record a game of 60+ passes with a 100% completion percentage last night.

But on FBRef, he was 59-for-60, not 63-for-63. Weird. #MaxiFalcon #Stats

My favorite thing about NFL season, by a wide margin, is scorigami.
🏈 BAL 40 - 41 BUF
FINAL

✅ That's Scorigami!! It's the 1092nd unique final score in NFL history.

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that "Psychonauts 2"- a game I love that's a sequel to another game I love- has some of the absolute worst boss fights I've ever experienced in a video game. And not just one or two of them- a large majority are awful.

I will repeat my belief that Maura is one of the greatest human beings I've ever known, and in my opinion, far and away the best music writer in the history of music writing. Please help her and her wonderful kitty out if you can.

Can't wait to get through this delightful behemoth. Inside baseball: I was going to be on this episode before James needed me to step up for a full presentation last week. Fortunately, RTG got a gaggle of luminaries way cooler and more notable than me.

Congrats on 200, Guys.

As always, it was a great honor and joy to hang out with the Guy-bunal. This story has some of my favorite pieces of sports trivia ever, even though I'm neither a Sixers nor Orioles fan.

Including 2025, @umpscorecard.bsky.social has been tracking umpire accuracy for eleven seasons.

Laz Diaz has been one of the bottom ten umpires (minimum ten games) in TEN OF THOSE ELEVEN SEASONS.

I love my union, but I don't think it could protect me after being so futile for so long. #Umps #MLBUA

On a scale of one to Mark Moseley, how wild is it that relief pitchers finished first and third in 1984 AL MVP voting?

I'm through 5 years of @magictavern.bsky.social, the funniest podcast ever. It has subsumed a majority of my podcast listening time, and my wife is nonplussed by my "different things mean different things" t-shirt. Following are a bunch of choices absolutely nobody on Earth (or in Foon) cares about.

When the Big Bullshit Bill wreaks havoc on both individuals and the nation as a whole, take it as a reminder (not that most sane people needed another) of who you voted for, and who the people you know voted for. That anyone could look at it and think it's a good idea is unfathomable.

I found one of my best stats ever today. The @nerevolution.bsky.social had NEVER salvaged a point after being down 3 goals; I confirmed that by looking at every match in their history in which they both scored and allowed 3+ goals. Was there an easier way to figure it out? Beats me! #MLS #NERevs

Here's my top 10 since 2000, in order (which is a pain because you have to enter them in reverse). I am repeatedly on the record as saying that "Spirited Away" is the most perfect film ever made, and I stand by it. I also tried- *TRIED*- to differentiate "best" from "favorite". #NYT #BestMovies

Take a good look at the ages, races, and genders who support Cuomo in this article.

Sorry, remove those plurals. Age = old, race = Caucasian, gender = male.

We need it to be a @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social summer, people.
