Just yesterday I was thinking about how, when social media platforms rolled out algorithms, everyone was like “we don’t want that.” And they were like “no no, trust us, the data says you do; it’ll be great.” Now not only are the algorithms not great, they sucked the life out of everything

Listening to a podcast, and the guy just said that in order for a work to endure, it must be misunderstood. This, my friends, is the power ofmd has over this fandom, what has inspired 30,000+ fics and innumerable artworks, and also what has us at each other's throats constantly 😅

What I learned was abusers are drawn to the arts because of fandom.
Fandom rabidly protects, excuses, legitimises. Someone who is so good, so funny, so talented, who has so many fans - surely could NEVER. Fans are MUCH easier to abuse.
They don’t make art AND abuse. They make art TO abuse.
