Policing the West Country. Stage 4 Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Now with added Stem Cell Transplant.
Stuff and Nonsense
I love this photo from Portland, however I am drawn to the sign “Frogs Together Strong” and note that its inspiration comes from The Planet of the Apes documentaries.
Those don’t really work out well for humans…
I, for one, welcome our new amphibian overlords.

If not Day1 UK police training, it’s pretty early on:
My attitude > affects > My behaviour > affects > Your attitude > affects > Your behaviour and so on…
Every been in an argument which ends up with you both just shouting at each other (and you sleeping on the sofa…)?
Exactly!
But with guns!

It’s important to have a distraction technique to help avoid all the depressing UK politics stuff.
So on this weeks schedule, we have the Dirty Harry Collection, Bullitt and All the Presidents Men.
All physical media as nowhere streams them for free

Generation Terrorists, because that’s where I started with them.
Specifically a 7” of You Love Us in 1992 bought from whatever the record shop in Taunton was called, just along from Waterstones.
Anyway, it’s the only band still making 5* music from back then that I was on board with from Day1!

Catching up on Alien Earth and I’m reminded how good an album Metallica’s Black Album is.
Wherever I may roam was always my favourite track…

Everything that’s wrong with the UK in a single image…
The previous user of this glass can’t possibly leave the premises without having to walk past the entire length of the bar, but is content to leave their empty glass behind for someone else to collect.

Well that’s disconcerting to say the least.
You’d think BBC news might have mentioned something…
Obv, after something about Farage/ReformUK but ahead of Davey/LibDems

Im still too immunocompromised to be able to risk inside & crowded events, but this is right in my ballpark…
One of my fave films, on a big (imax) screen, with a ‘live’ hip hop rescore.

I see the conspiracy theorists, elite snipers, hunters and assassins and everyone who has ever seen all the Jason Bourne films and the Fugitive is coming onto social media to offer their opinion.
It would make a slightly complicated but not unsurprising venn diagram.

Yes it’s a listed building
Yes it’s criminal damage
Yes it’s critical of government action/policy
BUT
It would have been worth ££
Should have been saved and context added (for the greater good/freedom of speech/etc)
Or sold & caveat that new owner conserve it for public
££ to victim support

I want to like Starmer. I do.
But for an intelligent man, a former DPP, he should know how to frame an argument.
He’s the PM of the UK.
The leader of the nation.
If he’s sat in front of a flag (weird…) you’d hope it would represent everyone and not just the bit he lives in.

My village has converted the red telephone box to a ‘free book library’.
Stopping by there, I picked up Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
I’ve not read it in ages and seems, somehow, appropriate once again.

Insurance companies are notorious for finding any excuse not to pay out.
I wonder how long it will be before the RTC claims come in from all the random flags and painted road markings?
August 23, 2025 at 9:17 AM
There’s lots of reports (locally, but I assume nationally) of ‘local patriots’ painting St George’s flags on roundabouts.
They’re not flags. It looks rubbish. It’s some mindless vandal thinking they’re making a valid political statement whilst dragging the local area down.

Day2:
1xPicc line removed (sprung a leak), new one inserted yesterday
1xCanula removed (to ensure no delay to drug delivery)
1xDoppler scan on old Picc line prior to removal (just to check for any issues)
1xHead scan as I’m a bit shaky

Day -1: last day of chemo pre-conditioning.
At the end of the day I should have no functioning immune system or, most importantly cancer.
That means tomorrow is Day 0
Stem Cell Transplant day!!!!!
I’m told it’s anticlimactic, which I hope it is BUT it is a massive step forward.

My pump makes a noise like an old dial up modem.
I look at it and see I’m on Drug X.
Elon really is downloading me!!!
They tried to warn us about the covid vaccine.
I didn’t listen.
Anyway, I’m probably the reason why AI is a bit rubbish currently.

Got some reading material for my hospital stay from @weirdbristol.bsky.social
My challenge is to see if I can identify any locations from the view from my bed
June 29, 2025 at 10:08 AM
Exercise is important, especially when you are confined to a room.
Part of my pre-transplant info loading was a visit from the physiotherapist who gave me some exercises to do (standing, sat or bed bound depending on my condition) and also some pedals.
I’m not quite Tour De France standard…
