So proud of the great work happening in Minneapolis, which shows that boosting housing supply helps make homes more affordable.

I'm at the National Assembly building. The army is here. And I just saw two soldiers in fatigues getting pushed around by belligerent ajusshis. and they looked legit scared.

Hey so rowhouses?

They're not "intense" or "medium" or "high" density.

They're low density.

My one constructive criticism on BlueSky, as a community: we need to “like” less and “retweet” more. In the absence of an algorithm, that’s the way we find each other and reward good content.

Today is an important public hearing day at #yyccc. It’s the day that council undertakes mid-cycle budget adjustments. Effectively, it’s an opportunity to realign the multi-year budget with emerging priorities & back up council decisions with $$. Here’s a quick 🧵on my thoughts👇

Are Bluesky’s servers having issues right now with all the new people flooding in or is it just me?

‘There’s a real possibility the money funding retirement for thousands of Albertans will be invested in UCP pet projects.

If Smith’s UCP [controls] AIMCo in #Alberta, they are tying citizens’ future retirement income to fossil fuels.’

Opinion: Alberta Premier Smith must resist the temptation to treat AIMCo as the province’s cookie jar
Increased political influence at AIMCo would be a disaster for Alberta retirees and a setback for the Canadian model of capital pools set up to deliver on the promise of a reliable pension

Lately instead of paying attention to the awful mess down south I’ve been door-knocking with my amazing @albertandp.ca MLA Nagwan Al-Guneid. Met a bunch of nice folks at the doors who are supporters, and a couple who aren’t (yet) but who were excited about the new leader @naheednenshi.bsky.social.

During question period, Councillor McLean is asked about the City’s work-from-home policy. He says it would be inappropriate for City workers to log in to remote meetings from a ski hill.

What’s cool about this site is I can post anything and I don’t have a dozen blue check accounts with Trump assassination photos or NFT profile pics immediately swarming me telling me to die. So that’s nice.

Toronto's Line 5 is a perfect example of value capture. Along 2 miles of the new line, over 35k housing units will be developed, with the resulting property taxes and new residents more than covering the capital costs of the transit.
Pairing new housing w/ transit is a no-brainer.

Hey, I’m Cam!

I’m a student at the university of Calgary and am interested in politics and urbanism.

I’m a fan of pro-housing policy and public transit, and not a fan of science denial.

I’m new to this platform so give me a follow if you’re interested in activism/organizing about this stuff :)

Canada has two months to prepare for the next Trump Administration. Except around border security. Moves that Trump is already making to prepare for mass deportations (appointing Homan and Miller, and reiterating the goal of deporting millions) will likely lead people fleeing North in advance....

I think it's interesting and instructive that Threads has been overrun by liberal election fraud conspiracies and Bluesky just... hasn't. (h/t @taylorlorenz.bsky.social)

I suspect that's because Threads is 100% algorithmic media, and Bluesky has no algorithm to game.

Meta's Threads is 'overrun' with liberal election fraud conspiracies
Thousands of users have amplified baseless claims of hacked voting machines as Democrats become more comfortable embracing denialism

the worst part about the republican party is that they lean into their independant grassroots media and the democrats don’t do this. they’re ceding an entire, arguably more important realm of media space to fascists
