The whole set is really enjoyable, but specifically check out 10:50, where she plays lap-style with a mallet while accompanying herself with tap shoes and kalimba taped to her guitar. That level of mastery is so much fun to hear:

Genuine, non-troll-y question: have you ever had a positive experience with a consumer-facing AI chatbot?

If you’re not getting at least 10 new, paying customers per weekday, you should not be doing anything with the word “scale” in it.

Rather, you should be seeking how to get to 10 new, paying customers per weekday.

This is absurd and I watched the entire thing twice:

Say your app has account debits and credits, and you need to show an account balance.

If it's a few thousand records, you *might* get away with $records->pluck('amount')->sum(), but how do you prefer to handle it when you have a few million?

Putting aside the specific content of the talk (which is excellent) for a second, this is just a superb example of a successful keynote: engaging, funny, applicable to a broad audience, but still specific enough that folks can take away real, tangible actions.
This is a great talk about what it looks like to be prepared as a sane person who cares about people. I've listened to it a few times and am slowly implementing parts of it as they make sense.

Loving the latest Business of Laravel podcast with @alxndrmlr.com. His touch on navigating the weird, sometimes-fraught process of choosing a tech stack really resonated—especially the "JavaScript or Die" mindset that some investors/decision-makers hold onto.

I recently had to really sell a decision-maker on Laravel (rather than Next) as the most effective framework to meet their aggressive time and cost constraints. For the first time in a while, I really took stock of the framework as a whole, and man, what a gift it is.

I just love that Slack is this customizable—I had no idea.
Wanna make Slack better?

Settings:

1. Appearance > Font = Robot Mono
2. Messages > Theme =Compact
3. Messages > Names = Just display names
4. Messages > Additional options: uncheck “Display information about who is currently typing a message”

Give it a week. I don’t even hate Slack anymore.
I changed my font in Slack to a monospace font thanks to @tim.macdonald.au and phew what an upgrade

Gotta tell you, I ran `defaults write CreateDesktop -bool false && killall Finder` a few years ago and I've never looked back—a terminal command that prevents the file contents of your desktop from rendering.

It's so placid! So serene! Plus, it's great for screensharing.

I missed this, but Laravel's Director of Engineering recently announced that the company's products will be SOC 2 and ISO27001 compliant by the end of 2025—and maybe even HIPAA, too. (Shoutout to @mattstauffer.com's newsletter for this one.)

A fun little #laravel Eloquent method I didn't know existed: you can grab the sum of a relationship attribute and return it with the model. Can also do withMin(), withMax(), withAvg, and withExists(). Should save you a collection or two.
