Especially if you're on the fence about it, protest today. Fascism is isolating and lonely. Its very goal is to make you feel like you're the only person unwilling to accept a cult of personality. On days like today you fully realize there are more of us than there are them. You will feel better.

I’m just having so much trouble enjoying literature (Sinners), and navigating LIFE. How does this work? What are we supposed to care about and learn from? Am I sad or miserable?

I’ve never been a huge dystopian fiction fan--sometimes a bit too rough for me. I just realized today I stopping myself mid-news-feed to read dystopian fiction.

When a convicted felon calls a judge a “lunatic,” that’s how you *know* she’s doing her job.

Tomorrow, Wisconsin, vote like democracy depends on it—because it does.

Judge Susan Crawford has the backbone and the brains we need on the bench. 🗳️ #Wisconsin

As we Apple users enter a new age of weaponized internet activity, here are three important considerations:

1. Turn on Private Relay in your iCloud+ Settings, to obfuscate your IP Address.

2. Do ALL of your browsing in Safari, using a Private Window.

3. Don't store unencrypted data in any Cloud.

There's apparently a subset of people that desperately need success to be a sign of intelligence, and, strangely, inheritable.

Just, idk, sometime success comes form having enough money to be able to fail a bunch, and acknowledging this is somehow bad, if not apocryphal.

Another time I wish I had more followers so I could amplify. This is brilliantly said.

To understand the moment we are in as a country, this is incredibly important to take in:
Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections."
Each defendant assaulted him.

The stock portfolios of more than two dozen members of Congress outperformed the market in 2024.

This isn't due to luck or skill. Lawmakers can use privileged information to trade stocks while they’re supposed to be working for you.

Make no mistake, it’s legalized corruption.

Feels like one of those futile pleas we’re going to hear from wealthy people more and more in the era of climate change.

this isn’t oligarchy, it’s garden variety corruption. it’s *also* bad, but it’s important to know the difference because one is much worse than the other.

Tim Cook = $0
Sam Altman = $0

Amazon = $200,000

A fun thing to do is to read this obituary of a revered chef by a food critic:

and then read an account of what it was like to work for him from sociologist @victorerikray.bsky.social:

Compared what is valued from each perspective.

@autisticbooks.bsky.social

Hi, I'm looking for a little advice. I'm Autistic, my 15 year old daughter is also about to be diagnosed too but is VERY much in denial about it & won't discuss it.

She is a huge reader, can you recommend anything to gently introduce ideas to her without being preachy?

i read recently about how one thing that claims lives in otherwise survivable crisis situations is that people just refuse to believe that what is happening is happening and are cognitively unable to respond to the situation at hand.

Umm. Is this one of the most fun and thought-provoking SNL episodes we’ve had in a long time, or are we just not getting it anymore?

We learned that navigating the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher process is riddled with information gaps.

So, we reported a crowdsourced (and deeply-vetted) guide on how to get through the system, and also made it available in Spanish.

What You Need to Know About How Section 8 Really Works
Based on our reporting, we created a guide to the Section 8 program. You’ll learn how to apply, how to qualify for a voucher and what it’s like to live in Section 8 housing.
