Is this what will happen? Govt will reopen, the vote in December will happen and fail, health subsidies will expire in January, and the govt will shut down again in January, at which point the middle class will be feeling the pinch?

It looks as though "ceasefire" doesn't mean what I thought it meant, either. One might even start to describe this as "Newspeak"

That Dante guy knew which end was up...
Dante has a specific section of Hell for people who commit crimes on behalf of a monarch (the pope) knowing the monarch has promised in advance to pardon them.

Not to exploit attention economy guy's comments, but this White House attack REALLY IS a visual that is flooring people, including dopes like Byron York.

And it'd be useful to think of all the ways to use it as an organizing/messaging platform, PARTICULARLY bc of timing, "Let them eat ballroom."
As a matter of current law, could the president just…knock down the entire White House? Just raze the whole thing to the ground?

In the meantime, any US printers who want to print them in different formats? Maybe menus or placemats for restaurants to get folks talking or trivia night?

If I manage to keep any kind of hope over the next 3 years, it will be because of @adapalmer.bsky.social. "Inventing the Renaissance" is, perhaps, the most mind-bending book I've read since Godel, Escher, Bach and SO optimistic. You must read it!

All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown.

So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

Hero indeed. Godspeed Ms Goodall
Tonight I learned that one of my heroes has died. I loved her and colleagues' "adventures" as a child and grew up to admire her scientific work for so many reasons. RIP Jane Goodall.
