Monoblack is pretty good in EDH. White weenie is still around in EDH, although it's more about generating stupid amounts of tokens than the standard version. And check out the necron mtg deck. It's a pretty good monoblack reanimator list.

Nagash (god of death) is also a pariah from the broad anti-chaos alliance and chaos, because he hates chaos, but is too much of a megalomaniacal dick to work with.

AoS is in a pretty similar boat, although since the god of death is the first necromancer, it's less about it being an abomination and more that he has a backdoor in the entire magic that makes it unsafe for anyone who isn't loyal to him to use.

Also fantasy, to a decent degree. Necromancy (which vampires are a product of) is an abomination against the natural order of the world and hated by all gods (including the evil ones. Although they hate it for screwing with souls, since that's what they do) Death magic is fine though.

I mean that's what the rotation is for. You actually would have to reinvent the pawn every few years because they croak of old age after 2 years. That's a full slot taken up already. It was a recent decision to say that we're adding 7 pieces a year instead of 3 and 5 of them are from monopoly.

It's both. They hit and miss but I've seen a bunch of people saying they jumped in for FF or 40K and stuck around long enough to get a few modern packs. UB also sells well, even if FF was lightning in a bottle, it sold so much they're going to spend a decade chasing it.
