California lawyer representing employees against corporate abuse. This is not legal advice.

This is truly shocking. Not DHS saying: "oh, your order didn't apply to this other department" BUT that they are ADMITTING using the US military for a civilian law enforcement action on US soil. They transferred custody of civilians to the military and flew them out of the country.
BREAKING: DOJ claims that the Trump administration did not violate a court order barring it from third-country removals without providing process when three people were sent to El Salvador b/c the Defense Department sent them to El Salvador on March 31, not DHS, and DOD isn't a defendant.

She also directs the govt to file a status update on Abrego Garcia by tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Bigger than any one piece of legislation, Cory Booker makes the eloquent case that the power of the people, as expressed through their representation in Congress, should not be usurped by a lawless President.
I’ve taken the Senate floor and will speak for as long as I’m physically able to lift the voices of Americans who are being harmed and not being heard in this moment of crisis. Watch here:

In California, an employer must record all hours worked for non-exempt employees. This means that even if off the clock work is paid in some form, the failure to accurately record the employee's hours worked can lead to penalties.

Out sourcing prison/forced labor camps, specifically sans due process and against a court order, not a good look for a country founded on "freedoms"

"We are the federal law" and "you had better comply because otherwise you're not getting any federal funding"
Disgusting.
Stand strong Governors.
TRUMP: The NCAA has complied immediately. That's good. But I understand Maine -- is the governor of Maine here?

JANET MILLS: Yeah I'm here

TRUMP: Are you not gonna comply?

JM: I'm going to comply with state and federal law

T: You better do it bc you're not gonna get any federal funding at all

$38 mil. Granted to SpaceX while freezing USAID (in a way that is killing people, making drug resistant TB infections more likely, and leaving tens of millions in US grain without a buyer.)
Just got a tip from a guy at the FAA. You'll never believe who is still getting new government contracts while all the contracts at the Department of Education and USAID and other agencies are being nuked from orbit.

Pay attention: this isn't just about Gaza, it would be horrible enough even if it was, but please know that under this administration territorial sovereignty means nothing. I am *starting* to think he is not just about being a king in the USA but emperor to far expanded territories.
Trump: "The US will take over the Gaza Strip."

In California, it is unlawful for an employer to direct or attempt to control the political activity of an employee.
February 3, 2025 at 8:16 PM
I'm seeing a lot of people saying "he/they can't do that, it's illegal!" And that completely misses the point.
Laws are no longer being enforced against everyone.
When law enforcement takes direction from those breaking the law, the term illegal is no longer a constraint on conduct.
February 3, 2025 at 5:33 PM
This.
It would be fantastic if major federal institutions would acknowledge that the executive branch cannot legally unilaterally cancel or redistribute congressionally appropriated funding on ideological grounds and thus they have no legal obligation to comply with such directives
Trump funding freeze a blatant violation of Constitution, federal law: Legal experts
The Constitution, federal law and court decisions make it clear: President Donald Trump's order to pause federal funding is against the law, legal experts tell ABC News.
