Oh freezing it is a great idea.

My issue is his obsession with this thing. We make him leave toys downstairs and he’s been pining/whining for it for 20 minutes. Relentless. Last night it was nearly 2 hours and he had to go in time out in his kennel with the command “go the f to sleep”

Is this what the hagiographies mean when they say “the saint fought with the devil”

Meanwhile I’m sitting here looking at the native wild “grape vines” choking out my azaleas and feeling dread for the day of their reckoning

YESTERDAY I was supposed to be doing chores but a grey bird caught my eye out the window. Was not a kinglet, was not a vireo, not a parula. I spent 50 minutes watching it and trying to figure it out.

Ended up being a ding dang female black-throated blue warbler! No mate seen, having girls night

It’s a phrase to me that’s like sausage casing. The second you start thinking too much about how sausages are cased you get the ick. But if you just let it be there and do its job, well gosh this is a tasty and well spiced sausage

I watched an interview with Christina Aguilera (who we learned later had amazing vocal chops) and Raye, who I’ve somehow only just discovered. And then did a dive into Raye’s catalogue.

It makes me just want to sit and cry

I sure hope so too. I also suspect that we’ll have empathy for us more akin to how we view industrial workers of that era as opposed to medieval folks. The difference between those two was abundance of narratives about regular folks. We’ll leave behind a superabundance of writing

Future generations are going to be talking about us like we’re idiots for letting an unregulated social internet pollute our psyches.

Two other highlights:

This downy woodpecker going *tink tink* on the feeder trying to figure it out.

The return of my little field rat, with chickadee and wren pal
