YESTERDAY I was supposed to be doing chores but a grey bird caught my eye out the window. Was not a kinglet, was not a vireo, not a parula. I spent 50 minutes watching it and trying to figure it out.
Ended up being a ding dang female black-throated blue warbler! No mate seen, having girls night

My Merlin app was going bananas this morning. “Is that a flicker? A cuckoo (wow rare!) Is that a…vireo? Is that uh…lost oriel? Is that someone’s house phone?”
No. There was a dang mockingbird this morning practicing his accents under this transformer, so his voice was projected extra loud. Jerk.

My ruby-crowned kinglets are back. I love these little guys. And this year they brought parulas and redstarts with them. Snacks are in the pantry kids have fun, make good choices #ABirdFromtheLord 🐦

Today is apparently eBirds “big day.” I only got in about 15 minutes at the breakfast table, and it was rainy, but I was very excited for the return of my flicker! Not seen since last year! And for an angry hummingbird (“what’s this seed crap!”) and a couple of warbling migrants #ABirdfromtheLord
