3000 people suddenly losing their jobs is not how I hoped it would happen, but Tyson foods is a truly evil company and factory farming is a horrific system for public health, workers, animals, and humanity. High beef prices are a GOOD thing - this is one thing that should be incredibly expensive.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

The NY ACA exchange doesn’t open to select a new plan until 11/15 - I assume it’s the same in some other states. The shutdown was never going to do anything until people started seeing real life changes to their health plan options, but Dems already backed down. What was the point of any of this?

I’m opening a movie theater in which I show recently released films that I ripped from the internet but the studios are welcome to opt out if they wish.
Exclusive: OpenAI is planning to release a new version of its Sora video generator, which creates videos featuring copyrighted material unless copyright holders opt out of having their work appear.

Freelance illustration gigs drying up. Ad agencies using Midjourney instead of hiring human artists. Costume design turned over to AI wholesale. Good work vanishing.

These are the stories of working visual artists, who describe losing jobs, wages, and hope as their clients and bosses embrace AI.

Visual artists, illustrators and graphic designers share their stories about how AI is being used to lower wages, degrade work and even replace it altogether, in this installment of AI Killed My Job.

FWIW I'm a Zohran guy, but if you are going to vote in the NYC dem primary it's super important to rank 5 candidates who are not named Cuomo. Just ranking a candidate increases their odds greatly. Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell your enemies who will vote against Cuomo.
The PSC’s Delegate Assembly endorsed five candidates for Mayor of the City of New York.

Chilling. They are saying that simply taking action in opposition to US foreign policy is grounds for deportation.

Think of the proud lineage of protests against US-backed wars, coups, torture...

The judge said the Trump administration’s evidence – a two-page letter from Secretary of State Marco Rubio – is sufficient to deport Khalil under an obscure legal provision.
