Right, *you are always trusting somebody*. You can't function totally independently. "Trust" isn't declining - it's getting reshuffled.

It's often presented as a kind of conformity or groupthink to "trust the experts," but you do in fact need to do this to have a functioning society!

This will probably not matter. It’s just the Coast Guard, amirite?! And the next one probably won’t matter. But at some point, all these people who didn’t matter will suddenly matter Very Very Much and I suspect that will astound some people in power who don’t think the military are people.

I have gotten confirmation from sources inside the Coast Guard that this is in fact true and happened in Key West.

🚨🚨🚨BREAKING NEWS: Was just passed this from a fellow service academy grad. A Coast Guard Academy graduate posted this. They are reporting that ICE entered base housing and took a USCG spouse. I can’t confirm this but I’m calling for answers from the Coast Guard and Congress. This is unacceptable.

I actually think it's kind of a bad idea to just ignore the concerns of all the people who look at, say, the national debt or budget imbalances.
