Army Retired. I keep bees, farm blackberries, raise teenagers, and root for the Crimson Tide.
True story: I was with my daughter at the oral surgeon. A guy at the desk: "Am I paid up with you?" "YES". "Will you bill me more for this?" "Sir, we're sending your biopsy to a lab. The lab may bill you but it's not us". "Forget it. I don't want the biopsy." "OK, sir. We'll let the Dr. know."
Democrats would be crazy not to make this comment super-famous tomorrow when the Senate debates health care. Republicans don’t want you to be cared for as a patient when you’re sick. They think of you as a “consumer”—and tough luck if you don’t have the money for the care you need.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

Hey Florida, there's a perfectly good, slightly used Head Coach that was 7-3 against Alabama currently masquerading as a US Senator. If y'all would be good enough to hire him back into coaching, that would solve your coaching problem and would really help us out. He already lives there. Perfect fit.

I feel like the Nobel Peace Prize is one of those things that, if you are openly asking for it, and campaigning for it, you probably don't deserve it.

One of my dogs found this little guy in the house today. He was tangled up in a cobweb and dog hair and couldn't get away. (I have 4 dogs and vacuuming every day wouldn't be enough). I set him free outside.

That's a $45 steel bracket (that was once round) with a steel nut that held a $13 plastic wheel on a JD lawn mower until the wheel came off. With enough time and friction, even plastic can wear down steel. The wheel is also pretty worn, but the wheel won. There is a life lesson in there somewhere.

Brief thread on how we got here: Since the GOP won control of the House 2 years ago they have not passed a single appropriations package into law. Government has operated at funding levels set by Dems 2 years ago via continuing resolutions every few months. This is not normal.

Nobody needs a puppy for Christmas. There will be plenty in the shelters in June when those mommies and daddies realize what they bought and the kids get tired of them. There is no reason to breed a dog for puppies, unless it is a world class gun dog. Puppy supply already exceeds demand.

If you want to coach college football and don't want to be the next Nick Saban, the service academies must be great jobs. Think about it: no transfer portal, no NIL, just coaching football at the college level.

The press did its job investigating Gaetz and Hegspeth. I assume Patel is next, and I also think the "flood the zone with S#I+" strategy will mean it can't all be shoveled, and Gabbard (possibly the worst nomination) will slip through the gaps.

This big baby, who asks for ice cubes out of the icemaker any time I run it and peanuts every time I open the can, jumped over the 4 ft. fence around our yard (he can come and go at will because he can) and hazed a Coyote away from our house yesterday.

The whole gang. We willingly adopted the two on the right. The two on the left found us, but it is what it is at this point.

This is a fantastic article about America's and the right's insistence on meritocracy. David Brooks doesn't argue that meritocracy is bad, but that academia has misjudged merit and, in doing so, has failed America.

BEWARE OF PITBULLS: They are sneaky and devious. They will come to your house acting like they are starving and mistreated, and before you know it, you will have a house hippo sleeping on your couch and you'll be buying seat covers for your truck because they like to ride. They are BAD NEWS.
